Mission and objectivesUNDPโs Youth Empowerment Portfolio in Asia and the Pacific (YEP-AP) aims to invest in and empower young people, accelerating SDG implementation through entrepreneurship, climate action, digital skills, civic engagement, and political participation. The portfolio addresses barriers preventing youth from reaching their potential and promotes diversity and inclusion. YEP-AP works in collaboration with Vanuatu Green Transformation Project (VGET) to conduct a study as a part of strengthening and accelerating Green Transformation through meaningful youth engagement. VGET is part of the broader regional Pacific Green Transformation Project, funded by the Government of Japan, which is being implemented in Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Timor-Leste and Vanuatu. This study aims to provide a comprehensive, gender-responsive analysis of the youth entrepreneurship landscape to inform policy and programmatic interventions.
ContextUNDPโs Youth Empowerment Portfolio in Asia and the Pacific (YEP-AP) with Vanuatu Green Transformation Project (VGET) through the Youth Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Study in Vanuatu, aim to provide evidence-based information on strengthening an enabling environment for young entrepreneurs. This study will focus on Pentecost Island, a predominantly rural area where agriculture, fisheries, and small-scale trading form the backbone of the economy. Given the islandโs socioeconomic context and limited infrastructure, understanding the youth entrepreneurship ecosystem is crucial for designing targeted policies and programs. This study will evaluate existing opportunities, identify barriers, and propose actionable interventions that also promote gender equity in business participation. To that end, we intend to collaborate with Online Volunteers to support in online survey dissemination and data collection by reaching out to the targeted audience of the survey and collecting the responses. This outreach support will enable us to reach out to the targeted audience from marginalized and underserved communities i.e: rural youth, women, persons with disabilities, people on the move etc. Who can take the survey? Young entrepreneurs or aspiring youth who are interested in becoming entrepreneurs / starting their own business (sell products or services), aged 18 โ 35 years, residing in or coming from the Pentecost Island in Vanuatu. Expected Output/Deliverables: - Each Online Volunteer is expected to reach out to at least 15 respondents virtually, throughout the assignment duration (reaching out to more respondents is encouraged). - Submit record/evidence of survey dissemination and respondents reached by regularly updating the Youth team's focal point. - Ensure accessibility and support for respondents identified as persons with disabilities.
Task DescriptionFor the outreach and collection of data for the Youth Entrepreneurship Study in Vanuatu, we seek support from 20 Online Volunteers, who under the guidance of Youth team will: - Help disseminate the online survey in Pentecost Island in Vanuatu, and among youth coming from Pentecost Island (living in another island within Vanuatu, or outside in another country) and collect responses. - Conduct data collection using defined methodology and tools shared. Successful applicants will be required to join a virtual orientation. Expected Starting Date: 1 July 2025
