Living conditions and remarksIn Bahrain, UN Volunteers (UNV) experience living conditions typical of a high-income Gulf country. Most UN offices are located in Manama, where volunteers have access to modern infrastructure, high-quality healthcare, and international amenities. Bahrain is known as one of the most socially liberal Gulf states. Bahrain is generally categorized as a low-threat environment for UN personnel. The country usually has harsh summer for majority of the year. Bahrain is a unique country. It provides for an interesting and enriching environment, but also requires a mature level of cultural awareness, as well as more stamina and commitment than elsewhere to make life comfortable and affordable. Therefore, flexibility and the ability and willingness to live and work in harsh and potentially hazardous conditions, involving physical hardship and little comfort, are essential
