Organizational Setting
FAO Bangladesh established the Coxโs Bazar programme and field office in 2017, after the influx of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar. The field office implements projects under two workstreams, namely food security and livelihood and natual resource management, in support of both Bangaldeshi host and Rohingya refugee populations in the Coxโs Bazar subdistricts of Coxโs Bazar Sadar, Ramu, Teknaf, and Ukhiya. FAO Coxโs Bazar works with government partners, other UN organizations, and development partners and is an active stakeholder in intersector programming and interventions.
Reporting Lines
The National Field Facilitator will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative of Bangladesh, guidance of the Emergency and Resilience Programme Coordinator and Head of Field Office in Coxโs Bazar, day-to-day supervision of programme technical specialists, and in close collaboration with project and country office teams.
Technical Focus
The National Field Facilitator, SC-2 position will be responsible for ensuring effective and timely implementation of project field activities in Coxโs Bazar. ย
Tasks and responsibilities
โข ย ย Facilitate field-level activities related to mobilization, formation and facilitation of farmer field schools, aggregation centres, landslide volunteer networks, and activities related to natural resource management and disaster risk reduction and management in the targeted project locations including, but not limited to:
o ย ย Organizing and conducting community consultations
o ย ย Supporting the identification and mobilization of farmers and small agri-business groups
o ย ย Facilitating and supporting volunteers and volunteer networks and service providers
o ย ย Assisting in the conduct of trainings, capacity building activities, learning events, demonstrations, etc.
o ย ย Monitoring project activities through regular data collection and providing inputs to progress reportsย
o ย ย Contributing to the development of inputs and equipment distribution plansย
o ย ย Facilitating distribution of inputs, equipment, and other materials to project beneficiariesย
o ย ย Collecting and validating data and other relevant information on post-distribution activities, landslides and other natural hazards
โข ย ย Monitor farm production, care and maintenance of plantation sites, and mobilize volunteers/beneficiaries in the field.ย
โข ย ย Ensure FAOโs technical standard in the field implementation of activities and supervise suppliers in dealing with products delivery to the recipients
โข ย ย Collect or update forestry and landslide field inventory data, including cleaning and archivingย
โข ย ย Build strong relationship and coordination with relevant field-level government departments
โข ย ย Support facilitation of field visits, donor missions, including national and regional offices and/or headquarters expertsย
โข ย ย Prepare a detailed monthly activity plan according to the overall project work plan
โข ย ย Provide inputs for preparing monitoring and other reports
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements ย ย
โข ย ย Diploma or Bachelorโs degree in natural sciences, agronomy or agriculture, agribusiness, forestry or other related disciplines
โข ย ย At least 2 years of experience in implementing farmer field schools, agribusiness or value chain development, nurseries and plantation activitiesย
โข ย ย A working knowledge of English and Bangla
โข ย ย A Bangladeshi national
Technical/Functional Skills
โข ย ย Familiarity with group-based participatory extension approaches (e.g. FFS, aggregation centres or plantations activities)
โข ย ย Strong communication, team-building, and computing (MS Office applications) skillsย
โข ย ย Ability to communicate with local dialects will be considered an asset
โข ย ย Ability to work under minimal supervision
