5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

UNICEF works in some of the worldโ€™s toughest places, to reach the worldโ€™s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.ย

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.ย

And we never give up.ย

For every child, empowerment The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the Organization does โ€” in programmes, in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to childrenโ€™s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias, or favoritism. To the degree that any child has an unequal chance in life โ€” in its social, political, economic, civic and cultural dimensions โ€” her or his rights are violated. There is growing evidence that investing in the health, education and protection of a societyโ€™s most disadvantaged citizens โ€” addressing inequity โ€” not only will give more children the opportunity to fulfill their potential but also will lead to sustained growth and stability of countries. This is why the focus on equity is so vital. It accelerates progress towards realizing the human rights of all children, which is the universal mandate of UNICEF, as outlined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), while also supporting the equitable development of nations. UNICEF launched its Gender Action Plan (GAP) 2022โ€“2025 as a bold initiative to drive impactful programming that promotes gender equality and empowers women, girls, men, and boys across its core areas of work. The GAP emphasizes a gender equitable approach as central to achieving these goals. ย  Aligned with the UNICEF Gender Policy 2021โ€“2030, the GAP 2022โ€“2025, and the Strategic Plan 2022โ€“2025, the UNICEF Gambia Country Programme 2024โ€“2027 focuses on addressing structural barriers and shifting social norms that perpetuate gender inequality in The Gambia. This approach incorporates an intersectional lens to tackle overlapping forms of exclusion and marginalization. Through this transformative strategy, UNICEF is enhancing the integration of gender equality across all aspects of its programming and organizational systems.
