Project Context and Scope
The EPC unit of IOM Uzbekistan implements a range of activities aiming at addressing basic needs and delivering increased protection and assistance to Afghan nationals living in Uzbekistan. Under the supervision of the Programme Officer, the consultant will be responsible for the implementation of the business development activity under the project Improving migration governance and access to services for displaced Afghans in Pakistan and Central Asia and supporting other activities managed by the EPC unit.ย
IOMโs Enterprise Development Fund (EDF) is an innovative programme that supports livelihoods at the community level through private sector revitalization and economic development by funding small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The EDF provides financial capital to SMEs in primary, secondary, and tertiary economic sectors with a high demand for labour. Targeting key sectors and businesses with the greatest potential to create jobs, the EDF encourages rapid and large-scale job creation.
The consultant will also provide general programme support for the County Office as required.ย

EPC (Emergency and Post-Crisis) Unit Tasks to be performed under this contract
- Support the programming within the initiative related to the IOM Enterprise Development Fund (EDF), including communication with relevant partners and experts, respective meetings arrangements, identification of businesses, collection of business plans, translation and analysis of business plans, organization of the profiles of each businesses assessed and drafting a report to analyse and suggest the businesses to be supported; coordination with the IOM team on the businesses to be supported;
- Coordination with SMEs the engagement of migrants into their operation. To ensure the indicators of the project are reached - ย 5 SMEs are equipped and 20 migrants are employed;
- Support the programming related to establishment of small businesses for beneficiaries and provide support to procurement staff in IOM Uzbekistan and NGO partners to ensure timely delivery of equipment to the beneficiaries, conduct monitoring of small businesses progress (15 persons to be supported with small businesses establishment);
- Support in education opportunities arrangements for the beneficiaries (20 persons to be supported);
- Provide support in logistics arrangements fo the unitโs events;
- Support case management as required;
- Undertake field travel as required;

- 15 beneficiaries receive equipment to start business;

- Bachelors or Equivalent Experience
- 5 years of the professional work experienceย
- Knowledge of and experience in the context of migration/social services in Uzbekistan;
- Knowledge and experience of working with the migrant's community and private sector;
- Experience in implementing livelihoods activities;
- Experience in provision of logistics support of large-scale events. Languages
- Proficiency in English, working knowledge of Russian/Uzbek; IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish. Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. ย Travel required
