Work LocationHybrid Expected duration10 days Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe overall purpose of the meeting is to provide a venue to exchange information on common challenges and potential good practices in the work of the oversight committees and to identify any broader issues of concern that might need to be brought to the attention of governing bodies, management, or other interested parties. This is the tenth such meeting, and it will be hosted by the Independent Audit Advisory Committee (IAAC). It will continue to serve as a forum to promote the development and exchange of audit and other oversight related best practices and experiences. In this regard, the Independent Audit Advisory Committee seeks the expertise of one (1) Moderator on a consultancy basis to facilitate and moderate the meeting, which will take place on 2 - 3 December 2025 in New York. Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall supervision of the Executive Secretary, IAAC, the Moderator will be responsible for the following duties: Moderate and present on the following major areas: i. Navigating Shocks and Change in the UN System; ii. Envisioning Oversight Committees for the Next Decade; iii. Methodology for Producing an Overall Assurance Opinion; iv. Connected Risk: Conquering the Perilous Risk Exposure Gap; v. Update from the JIU; vi. The Role of Evaluation in Oversight; vii. Tour de Table; viii. Other matters including the identification of future topics and speakers, working practices of future sessions and follow-up of actions that arose from previous sessions. The Moderator is expected to prepare and present an outcome document in the form of a detailed summary and conclusions of the discussions and actionable recommendations from the meeting and a letter to the Secretary-General within two months of the meeting. Qualifications/special skillsAn advanced university degree (Masterโs degree or equivalent) in accountancy, auditing, finance, social sciences, political sciences, public administration or related field is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelorโs degree or equivalent) with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. A minimum of fifteen (15) years of audit experience in the public sector and in particular as an external auditor, both within the United Nations system and/or other international Organization is required. Experience in moderating/ facilitating large meetings is desirable. I. In-depth understanding of the United Nations governance, management, and operations, including the major business transformation and management reform initiatives over the last decade. II. In-depth understanding of the workings of audit and oversight committees. III. Experience with UN system oversight committees will be an added advantage. IV. Show proficiency in report writing, editing and communication. V. Good knowledge of relevant computer application, e.g. Microsoft Word. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
