The IUCN European Regional Office (EURO) enables vital linkages for IUCN Members, Commissions and Secretariat to governments, EU institutions, NGOs, scientists, practitioners, the private sector and other stakeholders to accelerate the implementation of the European Green Deal, the EU 2030 Biodiversity Strategy and related national and regional biodiversity strategies and plans. EURO provides critical knowledge and advice to decision makers on conservation policy and action, and help them connect and engage. JOB DESCRIPTION OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION

The Membership and Outreach Officer is envisaged to support existing membership, partner relationship and outreach functions in the European Regional Office in a wide range of duties by providing assistance on membership, outreach and visibility.

Under the direct reporting and supervision of the Regional Membership Officer for Europe, and in close cooperation with the Regional Directors for Europe and Eastern Europe and Central Asia as well as the Head of the Membership and Commission Support Unit, the Membership & Outreach Officer will be assisting the Regional Membership Officer in European, North and Central Asia membership recruitment, administration and retention, partner relationships, outreach and visibility. The incumbent will work closely with various Units, e.g. the Membership & Commission Support Unit, Global Communications Unit, etc.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Membership relationship and administration
โ€ข Assist the Regional Membership Officer in handling membership inquiries for all organizations in Europe, North and Central Asia and communicate/guide interested organizations on how to apply to become an IUCN Member;
โ€ข Proactively assist in recruiting new Members (all Member Categories) with a specific focus as identified by the RD & RMO;
โ€ข Provide assistance in the membership applications process: Review and check application files, assist in preparing the various notifications sent to Members at the different stages;
โ€ข Support the admission of new Members and ensuring that the Application Form is duly completed, that all supporting documents, including payment, required for the admission/adhesion are provided and that all statutory requirements are met;
โ€ข Translate application papers and other documentation from French into English, as necessary;
โ€ข Support in keeping CRM up-to-date with new applications, contact details as well other platforms. Provide membership statistics as necessary;
โ€ข Liaise with and provide updates and assistance to existing IUCN Members in relation to payment of membership dues, in coordination with relevant units;
โ€ข Ensure that the membership dues are cleared by all categories of Members;
โ€ข Assist in creating custom directories and datasets, mapping of expertise of Members.
โ€ข Assist with the sponsored Delegates Programme before, during and after the Regional Conservation Forum and World Conservation Congress;
โ€ข Assist the Regional Membership Officer in providing Members with all the necessary support and information related to Motions, draft Programme and Congress agenda and documents.

Outreach and communications
โ€ข Content development for the IUCN website and social media accounts related to IUCN Members and Commissions;
โ€ข Coordinate Membersโ€™ contribution to IUCN reports, newsletter, website and social media accounts;
โ€ข Identify innovative approaches to IUCN outreach and visibility with a particular focus on IUCN Members and Commissions;
โ€ข Support regional teams in featuring IUCN Membersโ€™ contribution to programme activities;
โ€ข Assist in organisation of events and missions related to IUCN Members and partners;
โ€ข Preparation of meeting briefs and reports;
โ€ข Assist in the development of communications and knowledge products in a range of digital formats.

SALARY

The gross annual salary for this position is in the range from EUR 46.000 to EUR 58.000 (depending on skills, experiences and IUCN equity analysis) subject to deductions for social security contributions and health insurance, and before tax. REQUIREMENTS โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree or higher in social sciences, communications, public relations or equivalent;

โ€ข Minimum of 5 years of experience in relations management, partnerships, communications, preferably in an international and multicultural setting;

โ€ข Proven ability to manage institutional relationships;

โ€ข Excellent oral and writing skills in English. Knowledge of French and Spanish, or other languages spoken in the region, e.g. Russian, will be considered as a strong asset;

โ€ข Thorough knowledge of modern office procedures, proven ability to work in the Windows environment (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Microsoft Outlook) and to use the internet;

โ€ข Ability to function effectively in a team with initiative, creativity and flexibility;

โ€ข Willing to assist colleagues in accordance with work priorities;

โ€ข Personal diplomacy and discretion;

โ€ข Excellent interpersonal, coordination, organisational, administrative and problem-solving skills;

โ€ข Ability to work in a proactive and autonomous way while ensuring accuracy;
