CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position.
This position will be based at CIMMYTโs headquarters in El Batรกn, Texcoco, Mexico, approximately 45 minutes from Mexico City.
Specific duties:
Media Strategy & Execution
Content Development
Write and edit press releases, media advisories, news articles, and thought leadership content.Craft compelling narratives that highlight CIMMYTโs research breakthroughs, development impact, and human-interest stories.Create engaging content for media channels and support donor communications campaigns.Stakeholder Coordination
Collaborate with internal departments (Creative Hub, Social & Digital, Internal Communications, Executive Communications, HR, and Regional Communications) to ensure consistent messaging and integrated campaign execution.Support media relations needs of the Executive Team and coordinate communications for HR-related events and external campaigns.Media Engagement & Events
Plan and manage media events including press conferences, interviews, and briefings.Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.Respond to media inquiries and support crisis communication efforts.Research & Innovation
Conduct research on media trends, industry developments, and emerging issues to identify opportunities for coverage.Stay current with communication technologies and best practices to enhance media engagement.Project & Campaign Management
Coordinate and execute internal and external communications projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.Negotiate contracts and manage deliverables related to external communications vendors or partners.Support the implementation of donor cultivation plans through targeted media activities.Requirements
Bachelorโs degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, or a related field.Minimum 5 years of experience in media relations, public affairs, or strategic communications, preferably in an international or research-focused organization.Proven track record of securing media coverage and managing media events.Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English; Spanish and/or French proficiency is a plus.Experience with media monitoring tools and analytics platforms.Ability to work collaboratively across departments and cultures.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.Benefits
