Mission and objectivesEstablished in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. IOM is part of the United Nations system, as a related organization. IOM supports migrants across the world, developing effective responses to the shifting dynamics of migration and, as such, is a key source of advice on migration policy and practice. The organization works in emergency situations, developing the resilience of all people on the move, and particularly those in situations of vulnerability, as well as building capacity within governments to manage all forms and impacts of mobility. ContextIOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. Under the overall supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer, and direct supervision of the Senior M&E Associate, the MEAL Enumerator will be responsible for conducting monitoring of IOMโs activities via remote (telephone-based) and in-person interviews with beneficiaries and direct observation, conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection, participating in quantitative and qualitative data entry, translation and analysis, supporting implementation of accountability mechanisms.
Task DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of the Senior Monitoring and Evaluation (Monitoring & Evaluation) Associate at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Volunteer)will undertake the following tasks: โข Conduct in-person monitoring of IOM activities, including, for example, distributions, trainings and awareness raising sessions. โข Conduct interviews with beneficiaries of IOM activities via telephone and in-person modalities. โข Administration of quantitative and qualitative data for IOM projects during activity, process, post-assistance, and outcome monitoring and recording beneficiary responses as instructed. โข Support in the organization and facilitation/documentation processes of focus group discussions (FGDs). โข Ensure that appropriate tools are used for data collection and documentation through verification with the Senior M&E Associate before data collection. โข Use M&E devices allocated for data collection appropriately and manage them well at the field level. โข Comply with the requirements necessary for conducting a successful interview and ensure beneficiary consent is obtained before interviews. โข Follow confidentiality and security procedures to ensure the respondent's privacy is protected. โข Conduct an initial data quality review at the field level before submission to the team leader. โข Cleaning and analyzing the data collected during the monitoring process of the various projects under the supervision of the Senior M&E Associate โข Preparing the first draft of some monitoring reports. โข Support the collection and documentation of beneficiary feedback during field monitoring visits and share with the Senior AAP (Accountability to Affected Populations) Associate. โข Conducting follow-up calls to beneficiaries to gather their feedback and/or close the feedback loop in consultation with the Senior AAP Associate. โข Support the Senior AAP associate in information provision sessions to beneficiaries in the field. โข Support the Senior AAP Associate in the distribution of visibility materials for IOM in the field. โข Complete any other tasks assigned by line managers. โข Performs other duties as required.

Living conditions and remarksThis is a volunteer assignment, not an employment. By sharing your time, energy, and talents, you can support communities in need and become part of something greater than yourself โ a global movement for peace, development and humanitarian aid. Volunteering strengthens trust, solidarity, and reciprocity among citizens, and it can promote a sense of belonging and purpose. The UN Volunteer will be based in the advertised duty station and responsible for arranging her/his own housing and other living essentials. Summary of this national UN Volunteer Entitlements: (Paid in local currency): โข Monthly Living Allowance (MLA) is USD 968 (Paid in Turkish Lira) โข Private insurance: Health, dental, life and dismemberment (coverage by CIGNA) As per UNโs diplomatic mission status, it is not included in National Security Institutionโs (SGK) system but can be only initiated on private basis. โข Entry allowance: USD 400 โข Exit allowance: USD 134 per month and upon the satisfactory completion of assignment โข Annual leave: 2.5 days accrued per calendar month โข Free access to different learning platforms and UN & UNV network Notes: 1) The allowances are in no way to be understood as a salary, compensation or reward in exchange for the volunteer work. 2) It's important to note that UNV assignments are volunteer assignments, not employment. 3) An additional IOM security clearance for the shortlisted candidates may be required for this assignment.
