Your team
Within the The Aviation Transformation Directorate, the Machine Learning Engineer will design, develop, and deploy scalable machine learning solutions, bridging the gap between data science prototypes and production-grade systems. S/He will build robust data pipelines, optimize model performance for reliability and latency, and ensure the continuous monitoring of deployed models. This involves rigorous MLOps practices, collaboration with data scientists and software engineers, and maintaining high standards of code quality and automation.
Your role
Your role will be to:
- Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable data pipelines (ETL) to ingest, process, and validate data from various sources for model training and inference.
Required qualifications, experience & competencies
Completion of third level studies in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering), meeting European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 7 followed by at least 3 years relevant professional experience. Hands-on experience as a Machine Learning Engineer. Hands-on experience with and solid knowledge of Python and ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn). Experience with MLOps tools and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow, Airflow). Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) for ML workloads. The following would be an asset: Experience or knowledge of modern Data/Big data engineering technologies (e.g. Spark, Ray). Knowledge of API development (FastAPI, Flask) for model serving. Experience with GPU acceleration and distributed training. Knowledge of the scientific modelling, data simulation or predictive analytics (e.g. emissions/sustainability models). Knowledge of air transport. Analytical thinking: you analyse information and are able to identify relationships. Problem-solving: you anticipate and solve business problems. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C1/C2. Conversion: Conversion to an undetermined duration contract is possible where all of the following cumulative conditions are met: the post is confirmed as being of a lasting nature; the staff member has completed at least five years of service; the staff memberโs performance has been satisfactory; and the conversion is in the interests of the service. Conversion is therefore not automatic. The selected candidate must successfully complete a probationary period of nine (9) months before being established in the post. The selected candidate shall be engaged in principle at the basic grade of the advertised grades. Candidates declared suitable who are not selected for the post will be placed on a reserve list for similar roles. The reserve list will be valid for one year from the closing date of applications.
