Org. Setting and ReportingThe temporary position is located within the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH). Pursuant to Security Council resolution 2793 (2025), UNSOH has been mandated to provide support; primarily to the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Haitian Armed Forces in the context of any joint operations with the GSF. Additionally, UNSOH is tasked with delivering technical assistance to the Organization of American States (OAS). The incumbent provides and coordinates logistics support to ongoing air, land, sea, or rail operations in the area, as well as support to military, police, security and substantive components of the mission. She/he also identifies, mobilizes resources, implements and reports on special logistics operations. The position is based in Port-au-Prince and is located in the Office of Chief Service Delivery, Mission Support. The Logistics Officer, P-3 will report to the Logistics Officer P-4 or Senior Logistics Officer P-5. ResponsibilitiesThe Logistics Officer plans, coordinates and interfaces with all mandated clients โ (GSF); Gang Suppression Force; (BINUH) United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti; (OAS) Organization of American States; (HNP) Haitian National Police; (AFH) Armed Forces of Haiti and any other supported entity - to provide timely and effective logistics support. Within delegated authority, the Logistic Officer, P-3 will be responsible for the following duties: โข Coordinates and provides logistics support to ongoing air, land, sea, or rail operations in the area. โข Identifies, mobilizes resources, implements and reports on special logistics operations. โข Provides and coordinates logistics support to military, police, security and substantive components of the mission. โข Drafts and coordinates logistics plans and other documents supporting the implementation of logistics operations, as directed by Head of Unit or Section Chief. โข Drafts and coordinates inputs to logistics reports, presentations, briefing notes, and other information documents required by the management, including inputs required by the UNHQ. โข Liaises and coordinates logistics support with other units within the Mission Support Division, such as transportation, communications, movement control and procurement, and outside MSD with security and substantive offices. โข Coordinates logistics requirements with other UN and other organizations in the Mission, and Host Government entities. โข Liaises and coordinates logistics support with UNHQ. โข Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained. โข Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs. โข Performs other related duties as required. EducationAdvanced university degree (Masterโs degree or equivalent) in logistics, business administration, public administration, engineering, or other relevant field is required. Work ExperienceA minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in surface and/or air transport, logistics operations in military, commercial or international organizations, or a related area is required. Experience in logistics operations in support of a field operations (inclusive of peacekeeping operations, special political missions, agencies funds and programmes), or other similar international organization is required. Experience in at least two modes of transportation (air, sea, road, and rail) including the planning, coordination and execution of large-scale personnel and cargo movement operations at the international level is required. Experience in the drafting and reviewing of SOPs, manuals, operational guidance, and reference documentation is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English and French are required. Spanish is desirable.
