Mission and objectivesUNFPA has been working in Yemen since early 1970s. UNFPAโs 5th Country Programe for Yemen from 2012-2015 has been extended since 2016. The current country programme has been directed to a humanitarian response upon the activation of a Level 3 emergency response in Yemen on 1 July 2015. UNFPAโs response in Yemen aims at meeting the reproductive health needs of women and girls and ensuring that they are protected from gender-based violence, working in close partnership with local authorities, non-governmental partners and UN agencies across the country.
ContextThe scope of the work encompasses close collaboration with local authorities in Taiz, various UN entities, including OCHA, UNICEF, UNDP, UNOPS, health cluster, protection cluster, food security cluster, WASH cluster, logistics cluster, camp coordination and management, as well as other related coordination bodies at both national and sub-national levels (such as the IDPs task group and others).
Task Descriptionโ Coordinate and communicate with the authorities, stakeholders, and relevant authorities during all program phases. โ Ensure the provision of inputs to Aden and Sanaโa on the priority programming in line with the Area Based Programme plans in coordination with the relevant authorities. โ Work and coordinate UNFPA projects to obtain the necessary permits for program implementation. โ Ensure effective coordination, representation for effective and efficient implementation, monitoring, and partnership building related to area based approaches. โ Develop periodic and interim plans to control the progress of program activities and field visits. โ Coordinate and supervise all program activities in Taiz, evaluating progress in implementing activities against plans on a monthly basis, and taking corrective action when required. โ Monitor, and evaluate the level of implementation by conducting field visits at least monthly to all targeted project sites and inform your supervisor, relevant thematic leads and authorities. โ Contribute to planning and raising gaps to the program management to contribute to creating new opportunities for partnerships and raising proposals for the development of new programs related to area based approach. โ Identify and suggest the development of new programs as necessary based on need. โ Plan and implement training and capacity-building activities for project staff in the field under the supervision of program management. โ Ensure smooth implementation and proper operation of project delivery. โ Prepare and submit technical and narrative reports (monthly- quarterly, and annually) with pictures and success stories for all program activities in a timely manner in compliance with the organization's policies, and donorsโ guidelines. โ Ensure all project activities are well-documented and archived. โ Upload statistical reports and update them on a weekly basis, according to the template supported by pictures. โข Participate in all coordination meetings related to Humanitarian, Development Peace Nexus (HDPNx), ... etc.). โ Provide project management with necessary feedback and proposals to develop policies, mechanisms, and work procedures that accelerate the implementation of activities and improve outputs based on lessons learned. โ Commitment to the organization's policies. โ Any other duties as requested by the direct supervisor.
