About this position
We are looking for a professional with a deep understanding of international development, specifically in the Caribbean countries, to support the development and management of various types of projects of the Labor Markets Division of the Social Sector department. This position requires a candidate with a robust skill set encompassing business acumen, IT proficiency, financial understanding, and strong communication skills, given its high visibility and substantial impact. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in SAP, database management, modular architectures, integrations, APIs, and digital ecosystems integration into core systems. A foundational understanding of technology infrastructures, including data centers, servers, networks, and cybersecurity, is essential.
What you’ll do
- Elaborate, supervise, and review project schedules, activities, relationships, milestones, and other critical aspects.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in project formation, encompassing risk matrix, resource allocation, schedule, financial planning, governance, and decision matrix.
- Advise Executing Unit teams in developing project management documents and actions.
- Facilitate smooth communication between project managers, executives, and relevant stakeholders, offering assistance and advice on project management matters.
- Oversee work plans, review staffing for project activities, and make decisions on hiring or assigning project personnel.
- Analyze project proposals to ensure alignment with best practices, considering timeframes, constraints, risks, and appropriate processes.
- Review work plans of suppliers providing goods and services for the project.
- Develop communication and adoption plans for effective project implementation.
- Conduct thorough risk and mitigation assessments to proactively address potential challenges.
- Establish project objectives and governance plans aligned with business objectives, incorporating actions for delays, decision matrices, and effective communication.
- Coordinate project staff activities to ensure progress within schedule and budget constraints.
- Prepare and submit project status reports following documentation standards, modifying schedules or plans as needed.
- Continually evaluate project management performance, identifying and implementing improvements.
- Take responsibility for project document management to ensure organizational efficiency.
- Collaborate with countries in the region to develop and implement digital transformation strategies.
- Support the design and implementation of loans and non-reimbursable operations with client countries.
- Contribute to administrative missions, coordination visits, technical support meetings, and the evaluation of technical cooperation, fostering best practices and smooth implementation.
What you'll need
- Education: Master's degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in information systems, computer science, engineering, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Project management training and certification (i.e., Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM)) is a plus.
- Experience: Between 5 and 9 years of progressive experience in information technology (IT) experience, with sensitivity and commitment to problem-solving in enterprise information systems and project management. Experience in project management methodologies, particularly PMI and Agile, and demonstrate proficiency in project planning tools such as Microsoft Project and Open Workbench, is a plus.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required. Proficiency in French is a great advantage.

- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
