The tasks outlined below are designed to be concrete, meaningful, and contribute directly to program effectiveness and strategic objectives.
Task DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission, the UN Youth Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: 1. Research and Analysis โข Support background research on migration, displacement, and climate-related mobility trends in the Dominican Republic and the wider Caribbean, including demographic profiles, key drivers, and relevant policy/legal frameworks. โข Compile and maintain a digital resource library of research materials, reports, and data, ensuring accessibility for the team. โข Prepare short summaries, briefing notes, and data visualizations to highlight key findings for internal and external use. 2. Project Support โข Assist in drafting sections of project proposals, concept notes, and donor reports, particularly by compiling supporting documents and reviewing drafts for clarity and accuracy. โข Support monitoring activities by helping review data collection tools, summarizing monitoring results, and contributing to internal progress reports. โข Provide assistance in coordinating with partners, including youth networks and academic institutions, and follow up on agreed actions from internal or external meetings. 3. Communications and Outreach โข Assist in developing youth-friendly communication materials such as presentations, fact sheets, short articles, and social media content to raise awareness of migration and displacement issues. โข Collect and organize human-interest stories, photos, and videos from field activities, ensuring proper documentation and ethical standards. โข Support the organization of events, workshops, and awareness activities by helping prepare materials and ensuring logistical arrangements. 4. Administrative and Logistical Support (as needed) โข Provide support in organizing meetings, workshops, and field visits, including invitations, materials preparation, and participant follow-up. โข Assist with simple administrative tasks such as maintaining records, calendars, and activity databases.

Living conditions and remarksSanto Domingo duty station is ranked by the ICSC as a Family Station (F), Hardship classification is A and the Post adjustment multiplier 27.9. Location of the workplace The IOM office is located at UN House in La Esperilla, a central and safe neighborhood in Santo Domingo. It is approximately 2 kilometers from the Colonial Zone (downtown area) and is surrounded by several well-established residential areas preferred by expatriates, such as Gazcue, Piantini, Naco, and Bella Vista. The office is easily accessible by car (10โ20 minutes depending on traffic) and public transportation (Metro, local buses or ride-hailing services like Uber). Having a private car is optional but can be convenient for mobility. Monthly car rental prices range between USD 500 โ1000, while purchasing a vehicle range from USD 15,000โ40,000 depending on the model and year.
