ITS Vice Presidency Context:
Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way by delivering ground-breaking information and technologies to its staff working in over 150 locations.

The ITS Enterprise Services unit, provides a wide range of technical services: data centers, system administration, database, middleware, cloud, enterprise monitoring and identity and access management.

Role
Infrastructure Windows Server Administrator, responsible for the design, development, implementation, and operation of enterprise Windows Server infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility of this position is listed below:
- Manage and maintain enterprise Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022), ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Perform advanced Windows OS troubleshooting, patching, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Administer and support Active Directory (AD), including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, OU structure, and domain trusts.
- Implement and manage endpoint protection tools (e.g., CrowdStrike), ensuring system security.
- Monitor system logs and security events using SIEM tools like Splunk; build custom dashboards and alerts to support operational and security teams.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell, Python, Chef, and Terraform improving efficiency and consistency across the server platform.
- Maintain awareness of infrastructure security best practices and assist with the PAM (Privileged Access Management) tools to manage server access.
- Support virtualization infrastructure (VMware) for provisioning, managing, and optimizing Windows VMs.
- Managing Windows workloads and related services in Public Cloud (AWS, Azure and OCI)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a SAFe Agile environment to deliver infrastructure services in alignment with business goals.
- Contribute to incidents, problems, and change management processes, including root cause analysis and documentation.
- Explore and apply AI/ML techniques to automate system monitoring, log analysis, or operational tasks where applicable.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Prepare and deliver monthly and quarterly reports detailing project metrics, SLA compliance, and key achievements to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain clear, concise documentation for new and existing procedures to ensure operational consistency and knowledge transfer.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of operational procedures and workflows; participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Analyze the business impact of various technology solutions and effectively evaluate trade-offs between business objectives, technical requirements, and cost considerations
- Ensure adherence to World Bank Group (WBG) policies, processes, and procedures in all aspects of work.
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability by responding promptly and effectively to client inquiries, requests, and issues; proactively identify and remove roadblocks to successful task execution.
- Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning and contribute to team and program objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver features aligned with business priorities.
- Ensure alignment with SAFe Lean-Agile principles and participate in Agile ceremonies (Stand-ups, Iteration Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives).
- Work closely with Product Owner and Release Train Engineer (RTE) to align deliverables with the overall roadmap.
- Participate in teamโs on-call rotation for production support.
Specific Activities Include:
* Install and maintain up- to-date Operational System software (Windows 2019 & Windows 2022 Server) patch levels, firmware, drivers, and related program products using Automation tools.
* Admin Windows servers on Prem and cloud (AWS, Azure)
* Automate the environment using various โinfrastructure as a codeโ tools like Terraform, PowerShell, Chef, Rundeck.
* Ensure compliance to various security standards for the environment.
* Provide in-depth analysis and problem resolution for complex operating environments involving Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, and the Cloud.
* Provide continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the various application servers, systems, and associated peripherals, including adequate follow up on Problem
* Resolution tracking using the ServiceNow tool.
* Monitor and review use of systems for World Bank access control policy violations in line with World Bankโs guidelines.
* Ensure that the defined decommissioning and disposal procedures are followed for all hardware systems and media.
* Report and respond to critical security events and take corrective measures per defined security incident management processes.
* Follow and comply with the World Bank Group policies, processes, and procedures.
* Participate in audits, as needed, producing necessary documentation, reports, and explanations, and implement corrective and preventive action plans approved by unit managers.
* Take personal responsibility and accountability for timely response to client queries, requests or needs, while working to remove obstacles that may impede execution or overall success.
* Able to present and explain technical information to diverse types of audience (management, users, vendor, and technical staff)
Selection Criteria
- Bachelorโs degree with 5 years or Masterโs degree with 2 years of experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in automating administrative tasks using scripting languages like PowerShell or Python.
- Experience in automating infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and Chef.
- Experience with Windows Server Administration, AWS, and Azure Cloud.
- Experience managing Active Directory Forest, Domains and GPOs
- Knowledge in data analytics and experience in tools like Splunk desirable.
- Collaborates within team and across boundaries.
- Experience in security and compliance with Windows servers and related controls and knowledge of security standards (i.e. CIS)
- Actively contributes to and readily applies WBGโs body of knowledge for internal and/or external client solutions.
- Ability and willingness to work, learn and contribute to internationally diverse team environment.
- Strong, hands-on experience of VMWare is a big-plus.
- Experience with PAM tools is a big-plus.
