THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING ย 

The Field Personnel Section (FPS) in the Capacity Development and Implementation (CDI) Bureau is responsible for managing the processes of recruitment and administration of employment contracts of international and national experts for the Capacity Development and Implementation Programmes.

In addition, the FPS is responsible for the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) programme which was launched to help ensure that enough qualified and competent aviation professionals are available to operate, manage and maintain the current and future international air transport system. The main objective of the programme is to guide the development of global, regional, and national planning and serve as a global platform for exchanging information, promoting strategies, sharing best practices and guidance to support States and industry partners in attracting, educating, training and retaining the next generation of aviation professionals.

The primary focus of this internship is on the organization of the NGAP global summit as well as the outreach and promotion activities in relation to advancing NGAP objectives.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

Under the supervision of the NGAP programme manager, the intern will:

Assist in the overall preparation of the NGAP Global Summit, workshops, webinars and associated activities. Support the coordination and preparation of background and reference and outreach materials as well as communication activities on NGAP. Help with updating and maintaining the NGAP Global Summit website and other social media platforms to ensure accurate and relevant information. Prepare reports and meeting minutes as needed. Assist in drafting correspondences, speeches, talking points, presentations, and other materials. Conduct research on the latest data, best practices and information concerning NGAP initiatives. Contribute to the redesign of ICAO's public website content related to NGAP. Support activities related to coordination and communication with internal and external stakeholders; and Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
ย  QUALIFICATIONS ย  Education

At the time of application, candidates are required to have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree programme (second-level university degree or higher) preferably in a field of study related to political science, law, public administration, management, or a related field in the aviation sector.

Applicants pursuing studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages should have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office including word, excel and power point. Excellent communication and research skills. Familiarity with website content management systems and social media platforms is an asset. Practical experience in using collaborative documentation processing tools or work management platforms is an advantage. Knowledge of ICAO and its mandate, the aviation sector or the United Nations system is desirable.

Languages ย  Essential Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities inย English. Desirable A working knowledge of any other language of the Organizationย (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).

ย  CONDITIONS OF INTERNSHIP

Interns are not paid. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern.

The preferred duration of the internship is six months. The intern is expected to work five days a week, on a full-time basis (9 AM - 5 PM). This is a hybrid positionย requiring at least three days a week in the Montreal office.ย 

Interns shall not be eligible to be engaged in any other form of employment within ICAO during the period of internship and shall not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for the six months immediately following the end of their internship.ย 

You may need a work permit to work in Canada as an intern.
