THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING
The Air Navigation Bureau (ANB) is responsible for providing technical guidance to the Air Navigation Commission (ANC), the Council, and the Assembly. ANB provides technical expertise in aviation-related disciplines to States, industry, and all elements of the organization. The Bureau is also responsible for maintaining and implementing the Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP) and Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP), including its aviation system block upgrades and producing yearly safety and air navigation status reports. The Bureau develops technical studies and proposals for Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and Procedures for Air Navigation Services (PANS) for further processing by the governing bodies of ICAO. The Bureau also develops related procedures and guidance material. The Bureau also manages the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) and Continuous Monitoring Approach that monitors all States on a continuous basis.
The Intern will join the Operational Safety (OPS) Section of ANB, Specifically, they will assist in the implementation of the airworthiness related Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) of Annex 1 - Personnel Licensing, Annex 6 โ Operation of Aircraft, Parts I, II, III and IV; Annex 8 โ Airworthiness of Aircraft.ย They will also carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor and collaborate closely with other Technical Officers in the Bureau and with Regional Offices for all airworthiness OPS-related matters.
This internship provides an opportunity for a qualified student or recent graduate to gain valuable experience in international civil aviation, with a particular focus on airworthiness standards and regulatory frameworks under Annex 8.

Underย general guidance of the Chief of OPS and the Technical officer airworthiness, the intern will assist the OPS Section of the ANB with tasks related to the development, implementation, and monitoring of airworthiness related SARPs of Annexes 6 and 8, and related guidance material:ย
Conduct research on a diverse range of assigned issues in aircraft airworthiness, and other area(s) of specialization using multiple research sources; select relevant material, analyse information and present findings for internal review. Assist technical officer airworthiness in the review of documents, identify important issues, similarities and inconsistencies, etc. Assist in the preparation of drafts of background papers, studies, reports, and other documents on airworthiness subjects. Support the review and update of ICAO SARPs and guidance materials related to Annexes 6 and 8. Assist Technical Officer in supportingย the Assembly,ย working groups and other bodies. ย etc. Assist in preparation of draft replies to correspondence from States, other international organizations and individuals. Assist in the preparation of technical papers, reports, and presentations for panels, working groups, and the Airworthiness Panel (AIRP). Perform other related duties, as assigned. ย QUALIFICATIONS EducationAt the time of application, candidates are required to have completed or be enrolled in a degree programme (first-level university degree or higher) in a field of study related to engineering.ย
Applicants pursuing studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages should have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.

Interns are not paid. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern.
The duration of the internship is between three to six months. The intern is expected to work five days a week, on a full-time basis.ย
Interns shall not be eligible to be engaged in any other form of employment within ICAO during the period of internship and shall not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for the six months immediately following the end of their internship.
