Under the supervision and guidance of the Head of the Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU), the incumbent will assist with data collection, analysis and quality control of WMO's extrabudgetary portfolio. The intern will provide support to the planning and delivery of WMO projects under the guidance of WMO Project Officers and in close collaboration with relevant departments, Members and partner organizations.
The incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Support the data collection and quality control of WMO XB project portfolio information;
- Support in the development of informational material on WMO's XB portfolio to various stakeholders;
- Support to activities related to WMO's reform of Project Management Systems;
- Provide support to the data migration to WMO's new internal financial management tool;
- Support project officers in the management and planning of project activities (work plans with delivery and expenditure targets) in accordance with the stated resources, outcomes and performance indicators summarized in the project documents;
- Support in the organization of project meetings, and contribute to narrative and financial reports as required by WMO and donors;
- Support the development of relevant project communication materials;
- Support in the coordination and hiring process of consultants engaged in the projects, with support from relevant technical units;
- Provide support to Head of PDMU with day-to-day tasks; and
- Carry out other relevant duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor in international relations/international development, business administration, meteorology or a closely related field.
Experience
Experience in project management, working with MS Excel and PowerPoint.
Other requirements
Understanding of challenges related to the development and implementation of projects particularly in Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Developing countries would be an asset.
Excellent communicator and facilitator. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.
