The day highlights the power and impact of volunteerism and in recognizing volunteers' contributions and promoting people-led solutions to global challenges. IVD provides a global platform for volunteer-involving organizations and individual volunteers to: - Promote and celebrate volunteerism, - Encourage governments and institutions to support volunteer engagement, and - Recognize the essential role volunteers play in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at local, national, and international levels. The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme joins Member States in the IVD celebrations worldwide each year, amplifying the voices, efforts, and achievements of volunteers across all communities.
