About the position
The Communications and Advocacy unit, under the Enablement function, provides programmatic and advisory services in the engagement of the CGIAR Systems Organizationโs stakeholders โinternal and external โ through different channels both traditional and non-traditional. The promotion of the research for development initiatives of the CGIAR as a whole and of individual centers in particular and their impact, utilizing a distinct, unified voice, is critical to achieving the groupโs mission by building awareness and support.
The Internal Communications Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Communications and Advocacy, designs and executes internal communications content and activities, provides support within the Communications and Advocacy team focused on internal staff communications and engagement. Responsible for generating content and activities in the wider Internal Communications portfolio from identification, delivery, and assessment is crucial for fostering staff engagement and building a collaborative CGIAR community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Generate / write content for use across internal communication platforms. Research background data to identify issues, trends, and points of interest in CGIAR's work and workforce, supporting Internal Communications content and campaigns. Explore, design and deliver options for content and campaigns aimed at internal communication, including themes, tone, and channels, to maximize reach and impact. Stay abreast of new trends and benchmark best practice in internal communication to help shape CGIARโs internal communication strategy. Analyze staff engagement surveys and other data sources against KPIs/KRIs and design and follow adequate metrics to assess the impact of Internal Communications initiatives. Organize meetings with the Communications and Advocacy team to share information and best practices across focus areas. Pitch and shape content and campaign ideas for internal communication, by presenting research to highlight emerging interests and staff engagement challenges. Build and leverage a directory of CGIAR resources to serve as internal champions and influencers for message dissemination and feedback. Interview and engage internal stakeholders to develop success stories and narratives that highlight CGIAR's impactful work for content and campaign development. Organize and deliver content, and outreach activities to support the internal communications campaigns . Monitor KPIs/KRIs and compile metrics across channels to inform internal communications campaign and strategy assessments, track and measure impact of internal communication and propose evolutions to the strategy and approaches accordingly. Document best practices to support capacity building and improve content and initiatives.Requirements
Education and Experience
Advanced Degree in Journalism, Communications, Social Sciences, Political Science, Public Relations, or other related disciplines. General experience in internal communications, including research and content development, and stakeholder engagement.Key Competences
Substantive knowledge: Demonstrated capacity gained through training/education in communications reflecting conceptual understanding. Communication skills: Demonstrated Skill in listening and identifying issues. Execution skills: Demonstrated Achievement in identifying of process steps and standardsLanguages
Fluency in English essential to communicate in writing and speaking. Knowledge of a second language desirable.
