Work LocationNew York Headquarters Expected duration3 to 6 months starting in June 2025. Interns work five days a week (35 hours) in person or remotely under the supervision of a staff member in the office to which they are assigned. Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe internship is in the Political Analysis and Research Unit of the Assessment and Technical Assistance Office (ATA Office). Responsibilities of the internship position encompass all aspects of the Directorateโ€™s work. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: โ€ข Assist in planning and organizing meetings, briefings, roundtables, seminars and other CTED events; โ€ข Assist in preparing documents needed for setting up arrangements for the organization of CTC/CTED meetings, briefings, roundtables, seminars and other events; โ€ข Assist in preparing background notes, talking points for meetings, missions and other events attended by CTED staff; โ€ข Research, draft and update country profiles and other background documents in preparation for high-level meetings and other events; โ€ข Attend and take notes at meetings, conferences and other relevant events; assist in the preparation of summaries and reports of discussions; โ€ข Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must be enrolled in a graduate degree programme in political science, international relations, disarmament, security, conflict resolution or related area (e.g., LLB., JD, LLM, PhD.) in international affairs or political science. The ideal candidate will have strong research and analytical abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a keen interest in political affairs, with experience in data visualization considered a valuable asset for translating complex political information into compelling visual formats. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this internship, fluency in written and spoken English is required.
