Work LocationIncheon Office (In-Person Full-time) Expected duration3 โ 6 monthsโ Duties and ResponsibilitiesโThe internship opportunity at the ESCAP Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia (SOENEA) located in Incheon, Republic of Korea, spans a minimum duration of three months and up to six months as deemed necessary by the office. โ This internship is UNPAID and fulltime. The interns work five days a week, totaling 40 hours per week, under the supervision of a designated staff member in their assigned office. โโIntern responsibilities will primarily center around supporting North-East Asian Subregional Programme for Enviromental Cooperation (NEASPEC) with a particular focus on two key areas: air pollution and desertification and land degradation. Additionally, the interns will assist with various office tasks as needed.โ โโDuties include a range of tasks, including but not limited to: 1. Carbon Neutrality and Air Pollution Interns will play an active role in supporting preparations for several major activities planned for 2026, including the Carbon Neutrality Forum and the North -East Asia Clean Air Partnership (NEACAP)Policy Dialogue and the 8th Meeting of Science and Policy Committe of NEACAP. Key tasks may include: โข Assisting in the drafting and preparation of meeting documents, background papers, presentations, and other communication materials. โข Providing logistical and organizational support to ensure the events run smoothly. โข Conducting desk research and compiling background information on relevant topics to support discussions and reports. 2. Desertification and land degradation Interns will also contribute to work on addressing desertification, land degradation in North-East Asia. Their contributions will focus on: โข Supporting a study that examines the main causes, drivers, and impacts of desertification and land degradation in North-East Asia. โข Assisting in the organization of a dedicated side event at the COP17 of UNCCD, aimed at fostering dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaboration on this issue. โข Preparing related knowledge products and outreach materials to highlight the ESCAPโ s role and facilitate the dissemination of key findings to a wider audience. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโs degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Masterโs or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelorโs, Masterโs or PH.D.
