Work LocationMbabane, Eswatini Expected duration5 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations Resident Coordinator leads the UN County Team (UNCT), including all UN entities present in the Kingdom of Eswatini, and represents the UN Secretary General to the Government of the country. The main goal of the Resident Coordinator is to bring together the different UN agencies for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the operational activities at the country level, helping the UN to be a more relevant and reliable partner to the government. The UN Resident Coordinatorโs Office (RCO) supports the UNCT through inter-agency coordination, strategic planning, UNSDCF monitoring, joint programming support, policy guidance, and ensuring system-wide accountability. Effective data management underpins these functions by enabling evidence-based decision-making, tracking development progress, ensuring transparency, and driving accountability to improve living standards and equality. The Intternship at RCO Eswatini is for a period of Five (5) months. The Internship is UNPAID and in-person at the Duty Station. The candidate will be under the supervision of the Data Management and Results Reporting Officer (DMRO). Responsibilities Under the overall guidance of the Team Leader and Strategic Planner as a secondary supervisor and direct supervision of the Data Management and Results Reporting Officer (DMRO) in the UN RCO as the first supervisor, the Data Management and Results Reporting intern will be responsible for; 1. Analytical Support - Review and validate incoming data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency before analysis. - Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of reports to identify trends, gaps, and progress against set indicators. - Synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights to inform decision-making and strategic planning. - Prepare analytical summaries and visualizations to effectively communicate results to stakeholders. 2. Implementation Planning - Contribute to drafting the One UN Results report - Assist in monitoring Joint Workplans (results frameworks, indicators, and timelines). - Assist in preparing reports for UNCT attention on the UNSDCF 2021 - 2025 3. Data and Research - Collect, organize, and maintain relevant datasets to support evidence-based decision-making. - Conduct desk research and literature reviews to inform programme planning and reporting. - Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to identify patterns, trends, and gaps. - Produce research briefs, summaries, and visual presentations for stakeholder use. 4. Stakeholder Engagement - Support coordination with MEPD, line ministries, and development partners. - Assist in organizing consultations, workshops, and validation meetings. 5. Monitoring and Evaluation - Assist in strengthening SDG monitoring systems. - Support development of tools for tracking ESRAP implementation. - Contribute to periodic progress reports and policy briefs. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
