Work LocationNew York Expected duration3-6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nation Staff Union (UNSU) is seeking highly motivated individuals who wish to gain professional experience in financial management, financial procedures and practices, and analysis of budgeting, accounting, and financial requirements within an international organization to supplement their studies. The intern will report to the President and the Vice Presidents of UNSU. The intern will support the team in the administration. Tasks will include: โข Provide assistance to the Staff Union Leadership (President, 1st and 2nd VPs), Implementation of Staff Union Programs & Initiatives. โข Maintain Staff Union websites and social media feeds. โข Support the organization of meetings, events, and campaigns. โข Assist staff with registration for various memberships, including the staff union, gym, and legal plan services. โข Handle the processing of staff enrollment and cancellation applications and update the relevant files and systems. โข Research in various fields (e.g., the administration of justice, comparative studies of international organizations)- Data Management. โข Evaluate surveys (processing statistical data). โข Assist with graphic design and messaging. โข Receive and respond to constituent phone calls, messages, emails and walk-ins. โข Research various topics and Information Session topic ideas. โข Assist in scheduling events and activities. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโs degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Masterโs or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelorโs, Masterโs or PH.D. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additional InformationVisa and Work Authorization Mandatory Requirements: For in-person internships in the United States of America, persons who are not United States citizens, permanent residents or on another non-immigrant visa status (such as F-1 or J-1 visa), will be required to obtain a G-4 visa for a full-time (at least 35 hours per week) internship. Candidates who are on a non-immigrant visa status as students such as F-1 or J-1 visa with an employment authorization will only be able to intern on a part-time basis.
