Setting and ReportingThe objective of this Convention is to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought in countries experiencing serious drought and/or desertification, particularly in Africa, through effective action at all levels, supported by international cooperation and partnership arrangements, in the framework of an integrated approach which is consistent with Agenda 21, with a view to contributing to the achievement of sustainable development in affected areas. The functions of the secretariat are, among others, to make arrangements for sessions of the Conference of the Parties (COP) and its subsidiary bodies. In addition, the secretariat also provides assistance to Parties in implementing the Convention. This position is located in the UNCCD Headquarters in Bonn, Germany in Administrative Services (AS) unit. As a team member, the incumbent provides a broad range of user-focused ICT support services delivered in an efficient, effective and client-oriented manner. The role includes assisting end users with Microsoft 365 applications, managing user and device objects in Azure Active Directory, deploying and configuring laptops and mobile devices through Intune, and preparing ICT equipment and workspaces for new staff. The incumbent supports day-to-day operations of collaboration platforms such as Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive, assists with basic Drupal website administration, and maintains accurate ICT asset inventory records. The role involves resolving recurring ICT issues, applying established ICT policies and procedures, and ensuring that devices and users remain compliant with organizational standards. The position works under the supervision of Senior Information Technology Associate. Supervision received is focused on the timeliness of process execution and the quality of outputs. The incumbent works with a moderate degree of independence. Work is reviewed for correctness in the application of Office-wide ICT standards. For non-routine issues, the incumbent is required to request and follow the technical instructions from Senior Information Technology Associate. ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent will perform the following duties: 1. Provide end-user ICT support for staff in resolving issues related to Microsoft 365 applications, Windows 10/11 devices, mobile devices and standard UNCCD applications, both on-site and through remote support tools. Maintain accurate incident logs and escalate unresolved issues as required. 2. Manage Azure Active Directory user lifecycles, including creating, modifying and disabling accounts, assigning Microsoft 365 licenses, managing security and distribution groups, supporting MFA, and performing routine audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with naming and access conventions. 3. Deploy, configure and maintain laptops, desktops and mobile devices using Intune/Autopilot and UNCCD standard images. Ensure devices comply with configuration profiles and security baselines and support staff with OS and application-related troubleshooting. 4. Manage the stock of ICT assets, including maintaining the inventory database, preparing devices for issuance, tracking allocations, and ensuring equipment is provided to new staff in coordination with HR and other units. 5. Support users in effective use of Microsoft 365 platforms, including Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive. Assist with permissions, shared drives, document collaboration, meeting setup and storage compliance, and support users with file organization when needed. 6. Assist with basic website and platform support for Drupal-based UNCCD sites, including user access and simple content updates, and help coordinate with external developers or the communications team when required. 7. Provide ICT support for meetings, conferences and registration operations, including preparing laptops, mobile phones, printers and other hardware; supporting video conferencing and hybrid meeting setups; and preparing ICT materials for conference teams. 8. Prepare workspaces for newcomers by configuring hardware, ensuring proper setup of devices and accounts, and coordinating with relevant units to ensure a smooth onboarding experience. 9. Participate in ICT-related meetings, training and knowledge-sharing sessions, maintain documentation for assigned processes and contribute to continuous improvement of ICT procedures. 10. Performs any other job-related activities required to achieve the goals and objectives of the team, the Unit, the Programme or the secretariat.
