This resolution recognises that CRSV is a threat to international peace and security, and that Member States affected by conflict need assistance to address impunity in order to prevent and deter future violations. In line with its mandate, the Team of Experts assists national judicial authorities in addressing accountability for CRSV crimes and strengthening the law enforcement and judicial responses to CRSV crimes. In the field, the Team of Experts regularly works with prosecutors and judges in domestic justice systems to ensure that CRSV cases are investigated and prosecuted, in a trauma-informed and survivor-centred manner. In its daily work, the Team of Experts has collaborated with legal practitioners in settings as diverse as Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Mali, South Sudan and Ukraine, and seen the emergence of ground-breaking jurisprudence in many domestic jurisdictions. In so doing, the Team of Experts has identified a network of prosecutors and experts at national, regional and international level with direct experience in conducting such specialised work. The Team of Experts will build on its experience and existing engagement with national legal practitioners and prosecutors by leading the establishment of a Community of Practice for Practitioners Pursuing Criminal Accountability for Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (Community of Practice) to serve as a dedicated resource for practitioners leading CRSV cases around the world, over the next five years. One of the central pillars of the Community of Practice will be the Practice Centre: an online public website that will compile practice-orientated resources, research, jurisprudence and tools for legal practitioners to use in prosecuting CRSV as well as provide access to a dedicated secure-access online Knowledge Exchange Forum to allow informal exchanges between Community of Practice members.
