About this position
The Investment Operations Department is responsible for generating a portfolio of high quality, creditworthy, and environmentally and socially sound projects that result in significant development impact. The business cycle goes from the identification, selection, origination, and execution of transactions to their monitoring. The Department follows a matrix model, with three segment divisions covering Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Institutions and Corporates, and two transversal divisions covering Financial Products and Services and Portfolio Management.
The Team:
The Financial Institutions Division (INO/FLI) supports a broad range of financial institutions (โFIsโ) such as banks, mutual banks, credit cooperatives, financial and insurance companies, funds, and microfinance institutions, among others, through debt and equity financing, guarantees and knowledge to promote economic development, job creation and the adoption of sustainable environmental, social, and corporate governance principles.
What youโll do:
- Reporting to the INO/FLI Director of Andean Region and in accordance with the needs of the INO/FLI Division.
- Support Team Leaders and project teams in the origination, structuring, negotiation and closing of high development impact transactions with banks, microfinance and other non-bank financial institutions that are consistent with IDB Investโs operations policies and in the relationship management of potential clients.
- Support project teams throughout the transaction approval process by various levels of IDB Invest management and its Board of Directors, in accordance with established procedures, including coordination with the credit risk management, environmental and social safeguards, legal, mobilization and other internal units.
- Contribute to the financial and risk analysis of potential clients; and advise on the financial viability of projects.
- Participate with project teams in due diligences and carry out industry research on financial intermediaries.
- Participate in the negotiation of transaction contracts and related legal documents in coordination with project teams.
- Prepare, in coordination with project teams, project-related presentations, reports, spreadsheets, memos, among others, as needed.
What youโll need:
ยท Education: You hold Bachelorโs degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
ยท Experience: You have two (2) years of relevant employment experience as a financial analyst/associate or equivalent position at a financial institution or a consultancy firm.
ยท Languages: You are proficient in oral and written proficiency in English and Portuguese; knowledge of Spanish and/or French is a plus.

Requirements:
- Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Ecuador or a resident with legal permit to work in Ecuador.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
