The Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC) supports diverse partners with their Peacebuilding, humanitarian and development operations. The Department of Operational Support (DOS) is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in support of operational requirements of peacekeeping missions as well as special political missions (hereinafter โfield missionsโ). DOS is also responsible for the delivery and maintenance of the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) in support of the operational requirements of Peacekeeping Missions, Special Political Missions, as well as DPO and DOS at Headquarters.
The Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies at the UN Global Service Center (UNGSC) provides a critical role as the resilient operational hub for the support and delivery of technology services and solutions to field operations and a broad range of Secretariat and United Nations system clients. As a unified, singular service provider, SGITT provides reliable, resilient and innovative geospatial, communications and information technology services, including centralized connectivity, hosting and monitoring support, ensuring that staff members in field Missions at Headquarters have access to critical enterprise systems.
The global ICT Service Monitoring provides reliable solutions for UNGSCโs enterprise monitoring systems on premises and in the cloud and enables the continuous monitoring of services provided to all SGITT clients including other UN entities.
The Global ICT Service Monitoring service provides IT infrastructure and Service monitoring to enable the Network Control Centre to rapidly identify and take action to restore any failure or performance issue. The monitoring service is also offered to any entity that wants to leverage on the 24x7 NCC service.
He/she will be part of the 24x7 duty roster as a member of the Monitoring team.
This is a position in UNOPS for supporting projects carried out for or in the United Nations Secretariat. The incumbent of this position will be a staff member of UNOPS under its full responsibility.
Functional ResponsibilitiesUnder the overall supervision of UNOPS Senior Programme Manager, and under the direct guidance of the Chief, Digital Technology Hub Support Unit in UNGSC, the ICT Associate โ Service Monitoring will work under UNOPS Team Lead to provide support on service monitoring. He/she will perform the following tasks:

Support the management and maintenance of the Enterprise-Monitoring Systems on premises and in the cloud.
Deploy and support the tools in use to monitor network devices, systems and applications.
Coordinate with systems and network engineers, application technical support analysts and developers to determine requirements for filters, events, alerts, and dashboards and reporting in various monitoring tools.
Tool Administration
Perform administrative support tasks in monitoring tools such as Network Node Manager, System Center Operations Manager, etc.
Create, and maintain monitoring and notification rules.
Support the administration of the monitoring infrastructure, ensuring that it is stable, up to date, well designed, properly tuned and properly maintained.
Support monitoring tools and its components including Network Node Manager, System Center Operations Manager, Azure and AWS monitoring, as necessary.
Create custom reports on results of the monitoring tools.
Provide problem resolution for SCOM and NNM components.
Collaboration
Work with project managers and peers to understand and solve challenging technical
problems, produce effort estimates, and improve system functionality, reliability and
reduce costs.
Contribute to projects involving Artificial Intelligence technologies and solutions.
Maintain customer satisfaction through effectively communicating and managing
customer expectations.

Assist with the recommendation of changes to policies and establishes procedures
that may enhance service efficiency.
Tool updates
Execute maintenance tasks for the monitoring tools under the teamโs purview.

Impact of Results
The incumbent will have an important role in monitoring and reporting any deviation of the infrastructure performances from UNGSC's Service Level Agreements in place.

Relevant experience is defined as experience in IT areas. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in installation and administration of application/network/system performance and availability monitoring tools. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in Server Administration (both Windows Server and Linux) A minimum of one (1) year of experience in scripting and programming languages.Desirable: (The following experience is optional. Experience in Cloud Services and Cloud Monitoring Experience in business analytics services (preferably PowerBI) Experience of server virtualization technologies, preferably VMware Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing and other key AI tools.Language requirements:
