Introduction
Country: Serbia
Description of the Assignment: To conduct a comprehensive analysis of the divergence between nominal wage growth and labor productivity within Serbia's manufacturing sector between 2020 and 2025. The consultant will evaluate implications for cost competitiveness, assess sector-level imbalances, and recommend policy actions and restructuring measures aimed at aligning wage and productivity growth trajectories. Recent indicators suggest that nominal wages in Serbia have grown faster than labor productivity, particularly in the manufacturing sector. This divergence could signal rising unit labor costs and the erosion of export competitiveness. The Development Agency of Serbia (DAS), through its FDI Unit, seeks to commission this analysis to inform sectoral policy reforms and guide investor outreach based on a realistic assessment of cost structures and productivity dynamics.Period of assignment/services: July 2025 - December 2025
