Work LocationNew York Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position is located within the Common Administrative Platform at United Nations Headquarters, referred to as the One Executive Office (\"one EO\"), under the Division of Administration in the Department of Operational Support (DOS). One EO has started its transition phase on 1 January 2026 as part of the UN80 reform initiative, which aims to consolidate common administrative functions across Secretariat entities into unified service platforms. One EO provides the full range of administrative and operational services required by New Yorkโ€“based Secretariat client entities to fulfill their mandates, including human resources management, financial administration, travel, and general administrative support. Specifically, this position is on the desk providing administrative and operational support to the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The incumbent will report to the Chief of the desk and work under the overall guidance of the Director of Administration. As an HR intern, you will support the One EO, with tasks including but not limited to: Administrative Support: โ€ข Provide support with general administrative tasks and various ad-hoc HR duties as required. โ€ข Assist in the preparation of HR-related reports, memos, and official correspondence. โ€ข Supporting HR Partners in tracking workflows, organizing documentation, and facilitating communication with internal stakeholders. โ€ข Participating in special administrative initiatives as required by the One EO. Data Analytics and Reporting: โ€ข Support reporting and monitoring of HR metrics by utilizing Microsoft Excel to manipulate and verify quality of large datasets, specifically creating and maintaining Pivot Tables to track human resources metrics. โ€ข With attention to detail, prepare and deliver monthly staffing reports, analytical summaries, and dashboards to division heads, while using visualization to highlight trends in headcount, gender and geographic diversity, contract modalities, and vacancies. โ€ข Provide monthly reports to division heads on the status of performance management and mandatory training completion. โ€ข Support the HR Officer in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data related to workplace well-being, staff engagement, and diversity and inclusion initiatives, in the context of developing policy and supporting organizational strategies. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience; however, a field of study that is related to the type of internship is required. Applicants must have a strong knowledge of standard software applications, including MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS SharePoint. Experience with building dashboards in Power BI and/or Tableau is highly desirable. Previous experience providing administrative support is desirable. Prior experience in Human Resources Administration, data sciences, and statistics is an asset. Experience in data-driven work and archiving are also desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required for this internship.
