This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days/month in the office. You can be based in our office in Washington DC. Reporting to the Director - HR, you will support the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. You will be responsible for administering HR programs and procedures, providing guidance to employees and managers, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws. You will play a key role in supporting employee engagement, performance management, onboarding, and HR data integrity.
What you will do:
- Serve as a first point of contact for HR-related inquiries from employees and managers
- Manage daily operational requests from the business unit you are supporting, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of tactical issues
- Administer and support HR programs, including onboarding, employee relation and engagement, performance and talent management, payroll administration, Immigration and global mobility, compensation, and HR operations
- Support employee relations by addressing routine questions and escalating complex issues as needed. Mediate and resolve HR-related queries and concerns from team members
- Support talent acquisition and workforce planning efforts by partnering with supervisors to ensure appropriate grading for new hires, and facilitating staff transitions, including global mobility and transfers
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
- Maintain employee records in the HRIS and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality
- Collaborate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee data
- Assist in the development, implementation of the Affirmative Action Plan
- Support the proactive use of data and metrics to inform improvements to policy, process, and training to educate employees
- Assist in administration of compensation
- Generate HR reports and dashboards to support internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with the People Business Partner on strategic imperatives: talent strategy, DEI, ways to optimize performance and build a culture of engagement
- Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve HR processes and employee experience
What you will need:
- Education: You have a completed bachelorโs degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field. Relevant work experience is accepted in lieu of a degree
- Experience: You have 5+ years of relevant progressive HR experience; PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
- Familiar with state and federal employment laws including but not limited to: FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, etc.
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills; Strong business acumen
- Experience reporting, analyzing, interpreting, and critical thinking.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- NGO experience preferred
- Experience in Employee Relations, Talent management, and performance management preferred
- Languages: Fluency in English, both written and oral
- Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization
Potential Salary: US salary range is between 84,000 and 95,000 USD. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
