The GGGI internship program provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGIโs operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in the Governance Unit, Department of Partnerships and Governance, Office of the Director-General. The incumbent will be able to gain experience in the following areas: 1) the inner workings of governance organs of an international organization; 2) the processes of organizing official governance organ meetings and diplomatic events; 3) the coordination with internal and external stakeholders and partners; 4) the management documentation and official correspondence; and 5) the processes of a country or regional integration organization becoming a member of an international organization.
The Governance Unit is part of the Department of Partnerships and Governance within the Office of the Director General Division (ODG), which oversees the organization's external engagements, strategic partnerships, and resource mobilization. The ODG Division supports the Director General (DG) with governance, partnerships, strategies, results, change management, communications, and advisory services. The ODG Division is both internal facing, in that it supports GGGI in fulfilling its strategic vision, and external facing, in that it supports the DG in developing and maintaining relationships with partners and mobilizing resources. The ODG Division ensures the DG is effectively supported to play his role as the 'global voice' for green growth.
The assignment will include the following but not limited to:
1) Event Coordination and logistical support:
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of governance organ meetings, including the Meeting of the Management and Program Sub-Committee and the Assembly and Council Joint Session.
- Provide support for diplomatic events, such as luncheons, receptions, and other related gatherings.
- Assist with handling logistics related to the organization of these events, ensuring smooth execution.
2) Preparation of Governance Organ meeting documents:
- Assist in drafting official documents, including meeting minutes, summaries of proceedings, talking points, and official correspondence.
- Provide inputs to various governance meeting documents and ensure they are accurate and aligned with the organizationโs standards.
3) Database management:
- Update and maintain databases of governance organ members, official contacts, event registrations, and related official documents.
- Help organize and track key governance-related files and ensure their accessibility.
4) General support:
- Support internal meetings and events, as required.
- Perform other administrative duties as directed by the Governance Lead and ODG Senior Associate.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelorโs (final year), Masterโs or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
- Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Governance Unitโs work.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess an excellent command of English.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office, Excel and design tools for presentations and visual material.
- Experience in organizing meetings and events involving government officials and representatives of international organizations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
SELECTION PROCESS

- GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin their internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD 500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
