Organizational Setting

The Department of Managementโ€™s Division of General Services (MTGS) provides support functions to the IAEA through its four Sections, namely the Archives and Records Section (ARMS), the Commissary Management Section (CMS), the Facilities Management and General Support Section (FMGSS) and the Seibersdorf Laboratories Services Section (SLSS). Among the five Sections, the Seibersdorf Laboratories Services Section (SLSS) provides site operation technical and administrative services to the work of the IAEAโ€™s laboratories. SLSS services include facilities, technical, engineering, property and transport management, and site security through its management of the Seibersdorf Protective Force (SPF). The Section has a diverse complement of 35 staff, including technicians, drivers, procurement assistants and IT support. The armed SPF provides around-the-clock security for the site.

Main Purpose

Reporting to the Director of General Services, the Section Head provides leadership to SLSS staff and contractors in the supervision and execution of all matters related to the site services required for sustained safe and efficient operation of the Seibersdorf laboratories, which include the development of strategic initiatives and plans, coordination with constituent Departments, liaison with civil authorities, and the VIC-based UN Safety and Security Services (UNSSS).ย

Role

The Section Head is: (1) a team leader, ensuring prompt and efficient service delivery, and supporting staff development; (2) an adviser to the Director of General Services (DIR-MTGS) on strategies and issues related to site operation services at the Seibersdorf laboratories;(3) a manager responsible for effective human and financial resource management; and, (4) a coordinator of engineering, safety and security delivery.

Functions / Key Results Expected

At least 10 years of progressively relevant professional experience, including at least 5 years in an international context.ย 

Demonstrated experience in leading and managing medium to large teams.

Experience with quality assurance and industrial safety highly desirable.ย 

Excellent oral and written command of English.ย 

Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $101540 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 55339*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; Other benefits include 6 weeks' annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance. Appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report.Staff members may be assigned to any location.Candidates appointed to posts in the Professional and higher categories are subject to IAEA rotation policy and their maximum tour of service shall normally be seven years.The IAEA retains the discretion not to make any appointment to this vacancy, to make an appointment at a lower grade or with a different contract type, or to make an appointment with a modified job description or for shorter duration than indicated above.
