Mission and objectivesUNICEF Solomon Islands works with and for disadvantaged children and adolescents across the Pacific Islands. Our ambition is to get the entire country working together - as one - on behalf of its most vulnerable children. We are looking for an online volunteer to design and adapt global IYCF (Infant, Young, Child Feeding) counseling cards to the Solomon Islands context. The purpose of the assignment is to support health workers at facility level to use these counseling cards during the IPC (interpersonal communication) sessions and community engagement activities during outreach for nutrition and health.

ContextThe purpose of this assignment is to develop engaging and innovative SBC (Social and Behavioral Change) tools and materials that will strengthen community engagement on key aspects of maternal, newborn and child health – with a particular focus on nutrition. The IYCF tool will support frontline workers in effectively communicating with caregivers and communities to encourage positive, sustainable behavior change while enhancing visibility of key action at the community level. The IYCF counseling cards are global tool which requires adaptation in Solomon Islands context. Objectives: - Develop context-appropriate SBC IEC materials that promote key messages on child nutrition and health. - Strengthen the communication capacity of frontline workers by providing practical, user-friendly materials that can be used during interpersonal communication, community sessions, and outreach in the Solomon Islands. - Promote community dialogue and participation through interactive materials that encourage caregivers and families to adopt recommended family care and health seeking behaviors for nutrition communication.

Task DescriptionUnder the guidance of the SBC Specialist, UNICEF Solomon Islands, and in close collaboration with the Nutrition and MHMS focal points, the Online Volunteer will: • Adapt and redesign the existing 44 global IYCF counselling cards to reflect Solomon Islands context. • Apply UNICEF branding and design guidelines provided by the Communication Officer. • Submit draft designs for review and integrate feedback from UNICEF and MHMS. • Deliver the final print-ready and digital versions of 44 flashcards by the end of the assignment. • Participate in online meetings with UNICEF SBC and Nutrition teams to understand the required contextual adaptations and feedback (upto four meetings). • Regular fortnightly meeting for progress update
