About this position
We are looking for a senior consultant for IDB Invest's Financial Products and Services Division (โFNPโ) with extensive experience in the secondary sale of loan syndications and debt securities products in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). As a critical part of its originate-to-share business model, IDB Invest expects to engage in a very active management of its portfolio and scale up its levels third party capital mobilization. As a consultant you will develop a comprehensive, efficient, and compliant process for the sale of syndicated loans and debt securities in the secondary market. This will involve assessing the current practices, identifying gaps, and creating a framework that ensures smooth transactions while maximizing returns and minimizing risks.
What youโll do:
- Review the current debt instruments portfolio and the existing process for loan sales.
- Design a comprehensive process for selling syndicated loans and debt securities in the secondary market based on proven and tested methodologies, which includes:
- Criteria for selecting transactions to be sold.
- Approval process for the sale of selected transactions
- Steps and procedures for executing sales, including documentation and legal requirements.
- Strategies for pricing and negotiation, including consideration for below par sales.
- Risk management measures.
- Compliance with relevant regulations and accounting treatment.
- Communications and reporting protocols
- Review back-office procedures for the proper booking and monitoring of sold transactions.
- Review current systems and potential systems capacities to monitor and track transactions that have been tagged for sale.
- Deliver a detailed process design document outlining the step-by-step procedure for selling syndicated loans and debt securities.

The first contract will go from January 1st, 2025, until March 31st, 2025. The second contract will go from April 1st, 2025, until September 30th, 2025.
What you'll need:
- Education: Master's degree in business, finance, economics, or similar fields
- Experience: At least 10 years of combined experience in the syndicated loan market or debt capital market, particularly in secondary market transactions. Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing loan sales processes for financial institutions. In-depth knowledge of the regulatory and compliance landscape affecting syndicated loan and debt securities transactions. Strong analytical and strategic planning skills. Regional knowledge: possess a solid understanding of the markets Latin America and the Caribbean. Strong relationship and communication skills.
