Work LocationMHQ Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Chief of the Finance & Budget Unit, the national individual contractor will be assisting and supporting the overall functioning of finance and budget section activities in accordance with the UN Financial Rules & Regulations as well as directives / administrative guidelines of the mission. The national individual contractor will be involved and assist in: Major duties and responsibilities a. Review source documents for completeness, accuracy, and validity of charges b. Review and reconciliation of all mission responsible open-item-managed (OIM) accounts and investigate erroneous/invalid entries and take appropriate corrective accounting action c. Process Low Value Acquisition (LVA) payments d. Assist in the preparation of monthly Value Added Tax (VAT) reports e. Prepare debit advice f. Ensuring that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained g. Assist in reviewing status of expenditure by each fund centre h. Keep records of correspondence with respect to enquiries related to relevant financial and budget matters i. Assist in the preparation of monthly cash projection j. Assist with general office administration k. Performs other related duties, as assigned Strategic resourcing and stewardship a. Assist in the preparation of supporting documents (narrative and supporting tables) with respect to finalization of cost estimates and budget proposals. b. Assist with the generation of financial reports. c. Files and archives documents as required. Performance monitoring a. Assists in performing analysis, preparation and delivery of reports. Others a. Ensures that daily activities are performed in line with the financial rules and regulations. Qualifications/special skillsHigh school diploma or equivalent / Knowledge of ERP system. LanguagesFluent in English language and knowledge of French language is desirable. Additional InformationGood communication skills and team work.
