UNDSS in Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territory (IOPT) is supporting the UN Agencies and International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) and International Organizations (Ios) to enable them to conduct their operations in the safest way possible.

Duties and Responsibilities
1)Assists the Area Security Adviser (ASA) / Field Security Coordination Officer in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation in the country:
Liaises and coordinates, as appropriate, with the host government security organizations and/or personnel, including national and local provincial authorities, military, and police officers, as well as non-governmental organizations and other non-State actors in the area of operation. Helps to assess the security situation at the duty station and ensures adequate gathering and verification of security information that may be required for a proper analysis of the situation by the ASA/FSCO. Communicates information on security to the heads of United Nations agencies and provides host country security advice to UNDSS in the absence of the ASA/FSCO, as required. Maintains regular contacts with Security Focal Points of UN agencies. Provide technical assistance at ASMT/SMT meetings when required.2)Provides field support to the Mission Security Commanders in the implementing and planning of convoy movements in Gaza:
Supports in the security planning and security management of humanitarian convoy movements within Gaza. Conducts advanced work and route assessment missions. Contributes to and conducts pre-deployment briefings. Carries out checks on security equipment to ensure equipment readiness. Contributes to making determination of equipment, facility and supply needs based on operational requirements. Acts as Mission Security Commander were appropriate.3)Manages UNDSS fleet and drivers in coordination with the FSCO
Ensures each movement are assigned a vehicle and a driver. Manages driversโ weekly schedule, leave plan, overtime. Anticipates and reports shortage of resources in a timely manner.4)Assists in maintaining the Security Plan, including updating staff lists:
Helps in the preparation and review of the UN Security Plan. Supports actions during the implementation of the Security Plan, as required. Assists the FSCO in monitoring compliance of SRM Measures established for the duty station. Assists in reporting security incidents affecting UN and INGOs/IOs personnel, offices and assets, and assists in the preparation of security reports, such as the Security Incident Report, and other Security Assessments. Provides support in organizing and conducting training courses on security awareness and preparedness and providing security orientation to newly assigned staff members. Conduct security briefings, as required.5)Supports the FSCO through conducting security evaluations and provision of advice:
Provides support in conducting security evaluations and provides advice on Residential Security Measures of UN/ INGOs/ IOs personnel, as well as on latest trends and threats to staff safety and security. Establishes and maintains warden system and keeps update of information related to UN offices and residences. Administers a pass and ID system6)Provides general administrative assistance to the ASA/FSCO:
Maintains routine and confidential correspondence files/documents. Maintains a database on contact details in relation to host country security authorities. Arranges appointments, receives visitors, places and screens telephone calls and answers queries with discretion, and takes minutes and/or notes at meetings.The incumbent performs any other duties agreed to within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization. The function involves work on a rotational shift basis that includes nights, holidays, and weekends.
Institutional Arrangement
Under the guidance of the Area Security Adviser (ASA) and the direct supervision of the Field Security Coordination Officers (FSCOs), the Field Security Associates will assist in the implementation of security operations and all matters relating to the management of safety and security of UN personnel in the security area of assignment.

Min. Education requirements:
Secondary education is required. A first-level university degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Management, Security Management or related fields will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.Min. years of relevant work experience:
A minimum of 6 years with a high school diploma or 3 years with a bachelorโs degree of relevant work experience in the humanitarian sector, programme management, security, disaster or emergency, or other similar field.Required skills:
Experience in use of computer-based tools (MS office suite and other computer-based, web, and smartphone applications) is essential. Possession of a valid driverโs license class C is required.Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section:
Prior working experience within the UN system, INGO, or other international organizations is desirable. Experience working in emergency operations/security programmes, and/or risk assessment/analysis is an asset. Experience in reporting verbally and in writing on complex situations in a clear and succinct manner is an asset. Knowledge of local roadโs geography is desirable. Having a trainer title in safety and security related such as personal safety road safety and first aid is desirable. Experience with map reading or global positioning system will be considered an advantage. Experience in handling web-based management systems is an asset. Experience in maintaining a Logbook or a database is an asset.Required Language(s):
