Office of the Secretary, Translation and Documentation Section
The Translation and Documentation Section in the Office of the Secretary is the official translation service for all governing bodies of the IDB Group, and its Senior Management. The Office of the Secretary is seeking seasoned translators in all IDB Group official languages.
Office of the IDB Group Administrative Tribunal
The IDB Group enjoys immunity of jurisdiction from the courts of its member countries. For this reason, the IDB Group Administrative Tribunal was established to settle the disputes which arise out of the employment relationship of the Bank or IDB Invest with their staff members. The Office of the IDB Group Administrative Tribunal is looking for French and Portuguese translators experienced with legal texts.
This call for interest aims at collecting the best curricula of language professionals interested in collaborating remotely with the above-mentioned Offices. A translation test in the Groupโs official languages will be administered to all selected candidates into their native language only. Based on test results, language combination, and areas of expertise, successful candidates will be placed on one or two possible and independent translator rosters.
What youโll do:
Translate assigned documents expeditiously, in a manner equal to or exceeding the standards of professional skill and care common in the profession, with proper use of vocabulary, syntax, expression, and grammar.
Deliverables and Payments Timeline:
- Selected translators will submit assigned work to the respective hiring Office within the specified timeframe, per said Officeโs established procedures, as needed.
- Payment will be made upon satisfactory completion of each assignment, per the hiring Officeโs standards and procedures, which will be clearly explained to translators prior to engagement.
- Payment and Conditions: Compensation will be settled in accordance with Bankโs policies and procedures.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelorโs degree or equivalent experience in translation, law or a related field. Master itโs a plus
- Experience: Minimum five years of translation experience, preferably in an international setting
- Languages: English, Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese
- Areas of Expertise: Finance, economics, law, international development, sector-specific fields. Experience in the translation of legal documents is highly desired.
- Interested individuals should complete the online application and include a CV. Selected candidates will be contacted for a written translation test into their native language. Translators already included in the freelance translator roster of the Translation and Documentation Section in the Office of the Secretary need not apply again.

Requirements
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

- Type of contract: Products and External Services Consultant (PEC), Lump Sum
- Length of contract: 12 months
- Work Location: Remote.
