Work LocationHome based Expected durationSix (6) months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe main mandate of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is to promote sustainable development of human settlements and policies conducive to adequate housing for all. Within this framework, UN-Habitat supports central and state governments, as well as local authorities and other partners for the implementation of the Habitat Agenda, the 2030 Agenda with the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda. UN-Habitat helps the urban poor by transforming cities into safer, more inclusive, compact, integrated, resilient and connected places with better opportunities where everyone can live with dignity. It works with organizations at every level, including all spheres of government, civil society, and the private sector to help build, manage, plan and finance sustainable urban development. The Regional Office for Latin American and the Caribbean โ ROLAC โ is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Agency puts emphasis in developing and managing activities in the host country. Indeed, for the past years, UN-Habitat has expanded its portfolio in Brazil by working with the three tiers of government to support the formulation and implementation of more effective, sustainable, participative, and socially fairer urban economic, social, and environmental policies. Each year, UN-Habitat celebrates Urban October, which begins with World Habitat Day and ends with the World Day of Cities. To promote the debate on the themes of each year's Urban October throughout Brazil, the UN-Habitat office in Brazil created, in 2018, the Urban Circuit: an initiative to provide institutional support and visibility to events organized by various actors. In 2025, the 7th edition of the Urban Circuit will be held in hybrid format, with live online, in-person and recorded events. To properly implement Urban Circuit 2025, an Event Producer is required to work directly with the Senior Event Coordinator and Urban Circuit coordination team. Report to UN-Habitat Manager The Event Producer reports to the Head of Brazil Office and OiC for Southern Cone Office, who will evaluate him/her. Responsibilities The Event Producer will support the implementation of the project, and its activities, with the following responsibilities: a) Upgrade and constant update circuitourbano.org website. b) Coordinate and configure the online system for events registration and management. c) Configure and manage events broadcasting and technical troubleshooting. d) Technical support and orientation to event proponents. e) Issue certificates after proponents evaluation. f) Maintain an orderly and accessible information file system on the information and data produced. g) Be responsible for the delivery according to deadlines for each product. h) Prepare all reports according to the Portuguese standard norms, following the norms of the Brazilian Association of Technical Norms (ABNT). i) Ensure that the technical activities are aligned with the quality expectations of UN-Habitat. The consultant will be responsible for completing all courses and training activities that are indicated to him/her by his/her supervisor. The security course BSAFE, from UNDSS, is required to be accredited during the first month of employment. The consultant will be responsible for his/her own security, so the person should get familiarized with United Nations security mechanisms and comply with them according to the Framework of Accountability for the United Nations Security Management System. Outputs/Work Assignment The Event Producer shall assist the implementation of the project, according to the stated responsibilities and the delivery of the following products: Product 1 โ Work Plan Description: Work Plan must contain: (i) roadmap for implementation; (ii) timeline of activities, tools; (iii) definition of deadlines and processes according to the initiative's schedule. Expected delivery date: 15 days after signing the contract. Product 2 โ Report on website upgrade Description: Report on website upgrade must contain: (i) proposal of webdesign for the website circuitourbano.org and main updates; (ii) visual identity application to website. Expected delivery date: by 31 July 2025. Product 3 โ Report on online events registration and management system Description: Report on online events registration and management system must contain: (i) summary of the event submission process, evaluation and selection; (ii) lessons learned, challenges and improvements. Expected delivery date: by 15 September 2025. Product 4 โ Report on communication strategy and package Description: Report on communication strategy and package must contain: (i) report on digital pieces of communication and dissemination; (ii) report on updates on the website; (iii) report on elaboration of communication materials. Expected delivery date: by 15 October 2025. Product 5 โ Report on events broadcasting Description: Report on events broadcasting must contain: (i) report on broadcasting and technical troubleshooting; (ii) report on support and orientation of technical requirements; (iii) report on website management. Expected delivery date: by 15 November 2025. Product 6 โ Report on impacts and results Description: Report on impacts and results must contain: (i) report on main facts and figures of the 2025 Urban Circuit; (ii) systematization of main impact data on broadcasting and disclosure platforms; (iii) report on event's results and lessons learned. Expected delivery date: by 30 November 2025. Qualifications/special skillsEducation Required: โข Postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu) in the field of event management and information technology is required, or additional four (4) years or relevant experience to the post, beyond the requirement. โข Desired: โข Bachelorโs degree in Administration, Information Technology, Social Communication, Public Relations, Social Sciences, or related fields. Work experience: โข Minimum eight (8) years of experience in planning and execution of virtual and in-person events is required. โข Experience in supporting large and virtual and in-person events is required. โข Experience in information technology applied to events management and events broadcasting is required. โข Experience in digital communication for events is required. โข Professional and academic experience on themes related to social development and environmental sustainability is desirable. โข Deep knowledge of the Brazilian context and culture is desirable. Skills: โข Good computer skills Microsoft Office package, Google package (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) and Web search engines is required. โข Good command of virtual events platforms and streaming such as StreamYard, Zoom and YouTube is required. โข Good knowledge of information technology (IT) and digital media is required. โข Intermediate knowledge of website programming language (e.g. HTML and JavaScript) is required. โข Basic knowledge of image edition and graphic design is desirable. โข Basic knowledge of data analysis is desirable. โข Good knowledge on project management methodologies is desirable. โข Excellent internal and client-facing communications skills is desirable.
