This post is located in the UNDP Ethics Office, which aims to cultivate and nurture a culture of ethics, integrity and accountability at UNDP. The Office assists the UNDP Administrator in ensuring that all personnel perform their functions consistent with the highest standards of integrity as required by the Charter of the United Nations.ย
The Office is an independent, impartial and confidential resource, where all UNDP personnel may consult on ethics issues and seek protection against retaliation for reporting misconduct. Training, outreach and awareness-raising are critical components of the Ethics Officeโs mandate, for which the Ethics Analyst provides key inputs. The Ethics Analyst reports to the Ethics Specialist and works in collaboration with other personnel in the UNDP Ethics Office.
A key aspect of the UNDP Ethics Office mandate relates to awareness raising and outreach initiatives that actively promote a culture of ethics in the organisation. Working under the direct supervision of the Ethics Specialist and indirect supervision of the Director of the Ethics Office, the Ethics Analyst will assist the Office in its ethics awareness initiatives through support in the development of communication and training materials, administrative tasks and coordination with other UNDP offices.ย The Ethics Analyst will also support project management and implementation of Ethics Office innovation initiatives, as well as provide surge capacity in other mandated Ethics Office activities.ย
Scope of Workย
1 - Develop and deliver ethics training, outreach and awareness raising
- Consistent with the Ethics Officeโs Awareness and Communication Strategy, develop and deliver multilingual ethics awareness sessions.ย Some travel may be required in connection with these activities.
- Collaborate with team on development of awareness raising and communications materials, including liaising with Country Offices, compiling relevant information, and drafting web stories and other content.ย
- Draft reports on outreach activities and other areas, as required, in collaboration with the Ethics Specialist.
- Provide keyย support on the Ethics Officeโs annual Ethics Awareness Month, including coordinating sessions and other campaign events, liaising and circulating campaign material with Country Office Ethics Focal Points and other partners.ย
- Collect and monitor key data points on awareness activitiesย
2 - Project management support to Ethics Office Innovation Initiatives
- Research, develop concept, and provide project management support for proposed innovations to the Ethics Officeโs Case Database.ย
- Implement and monitor enhancements to the Ethics Officeโs Case Database.ย
- Collaborate with the Ethics Office on developing content for and regularly updating repository of template advice/guidance responses, ethical guidelines, and best practices for use within the Ethics Officeโs internal chat function.ย
- Monitor and evaluate Case Database and chat performance, including tracking any issues and troubleshooting with partners.ย
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the Case Database platform aligns with goals, policies, and confidentiality standards.ย
- Project management support for other Ethics Office innovation initiatives, including further integration of Artificial Intelligence and other technologies in Ethics Office activities.
3 - Provide confidential advice and guidance and support in preliminary assessments of requests for protection against retalationย
- Provide surge capacity support across the Ethics Officeโs mandated areas, including confidential advice and guidance.ย
- Supporting the Ethics Office Director and/or Advisor/s in preliminary assessments of requests and queries under UNDPโs Policy for Protection Against Retaliation.ย
- Support the Ethics Office on ad hoc assignments and special initiatives as required.ย ย ย ย ย ย
The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization
Institutional Arrangement
The Ethics Analyst reports to the Ethics Specialist and works in collaboration with other personnel in the UNDP Ethics Office.

- Advanced university degree (masterโs degree or equivalent) in Law, Ethics, International Affairs, Communications, Project Management, or related subject is required; or
- A first-level university degree (bachelorยดs degree) in combination with additional 2 years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of advanced university degree.

- Minimum 2 years (with masterยดs degree) or 4 years (with bachelorยดs degree) of relevant work experience developing ethics training or internal communications materials for an international organization and/or delivering advice and guidance in an ethics function.ย
