The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an operational arm of the United Nations, supporting the successful implementation of its partners' peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development projects around the world. Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Intergovernmental Affairs Specialist, and working closely with colleagues within UNOPS and offices across the organization, the Editor will provide high-quality editing and proofreading services for Executive Board-related reports and products.
The Editor should possess strong attention to detail and will be tasked with ensuring all written content is free from spelling and grammatical errors, factually accurate, adheres to the United Nations style guide and meets UNOPS high-quality content standards.
The Editor should demonstrate a professional, client-oriented approach and will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient provision of services, confidentiality as needed, and the timely delivery of assignments and commitments in accordance with timelines agreed on.
Functional Responsibilities
The Editor will report to the Intergovernmental Affairs Specialist. The scope of work includes but is not limited to the following:
Edit official documents pertaining to UNOPS; edit the decisions during the three yearly sessions of the Executive Board (requires physical presence); serve as rapporteur of the session for the UNOPS segment of the Executive Board, keeping record of the Boardโs meeting discussions on UNOPS, provide editing support on an ad-hoc basis in relation to UNOPS official documentation for submission to the Board.

Education
Advanced university (Masterโs) degree, preferably in journalism, communications, social sciences, or other relevant areas of expertise.
University Degree (Bachelorโs degree / first level) with two additional years of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience
Minimum of five years relevant experience in writing, editing or similar communications-focused role
Experience writing, proofreading and copy editing parliamentary documentation for the United Nations. Language
Fluency in English is required, with excellent English writing and copy editing skills
Knowledge of French or Spanish would be an asset
Contract type: ICA - Retainer Contract level: IICA2 (ICS10) Contract duration: One year initially, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability

Terms and Conditions
For staff positions only, UNOPS reserves the right to appoint a candidate at a lower level than the advertised level of the post.
For retainer contracts, you must complete a few mandatory courses ( they take around 4 hours to complete) in your own time, before providing services to UNOPS. Refreshers or new mandatory courses may be required during your contract. Please note that you will not receive any compensation for taking courses and refreshers.
