Job Summary

The Research Department of the International Monetary Fund is seeking an Economist/Senior Economist specializing in climate policies.

Under the Structural and Climate Policies Division of the Research Department, the selected candidate will be involved in enhancing the Department's work on climate change and mitigation strategies. The candidate will participate in developing and executing the research agenda of the department in these areas, integrating research results into the multilateral surveillance products of the IMF, and contributing to the IMFโ€™s efforts to enhance the bilateral surveillance of climate issues within the context of Article IVs.

The selected candidate must bring a strong background in climate or environmental economics, leveraging both analytical rigor and operational experience. At the same time, a solid foundation in macroeconomicsโ€”with a particular emphasis on structural issues such as long-term growth, industrial policies and inequalityโ€”is essential. Prior experience in other international financial institutions, especially in conducting climate-related analytical work and contributing to operational engagements, would be considered a strong asset.
