About this position
The Front Office of SCL is looking for an economic consultant which has experience in development policy or international development. The objective of the consultancy is to provide support to the Operations Senior Advisor and SCL's Divisions in issues related to the Operations' Lifecycle and the Operations Development Effectiveness.
What youโll do
Support the Operations Senior Advisor on issues related to the Operationsโ Lifecycle to:
- Advice SCLโs Division on issues related to the operationsโ design and quality control, performance review, as well as portfolio management and evaluation.
- Provide SCLโs Division and teams with technical assistance and advice during the preparation and review of operational documents, and provide written comments before the different review committees of the Bank
- Promote and develop project identification and origination activities with SCLโs eligible Divisions to prepare proposals to be financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
- Organize the Quarterly Portfolio and Development Effectiveness Review Meeting with SCLโs Divisions.
Support the Operations Senior Advisor on Development Effectiveness to:
- Advice SCLโs Division on issues related to development effectiveness, monitoring and evaluation, and risk management.
- Support the delivery of planned operational and technical products and services of SCL Front Office that support, directly or indirectly, the development effectiveness agenda of the Bank.
- Act as a liaison between SCL and the Office of Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness (SPD) in the process of design, testing, and implementation of instruments and tools to enhance effectiveness.
- Develop and coordinate different activities related to the Operationsโ Lifecycle and Development Effectiveness, according to the SCL Managerโs instructions.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelors degree in economics, public policy, business, international development, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: At least two years of relevant professional and/or academic experience in economics, public policy, development policy or international development. Experience in international institutions is a plus.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

- Consultant: International consultant Full-Time.
- Length of contract: 12 months.
- Work Location: On site, Washington, DC.
