The Tanzania Management Unit (CAETZ) team is part of the East Africa Department at IFC. Our unit is responsible for business development, client relationship management, operational oversight, team coordination, and strategic engagement with both internal and external stakeholders. The IFC is hiring a Country Officer in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. The County Officer plays a pivotal and highly versatile role in IFC's country operations. Tasks span business development, client relationship management, operational oversight, team coordination, and strategic engagement with both internal and external stakeholders.ย 

Role Responsibilities:โ€ข Lead the development and implementation of IFCโ€™s country strategy for CAETZ, ensuring alignment with IFCโ€™s strategic priorities and the World Bank Groupโ€™s country partnership framework.โ€ข Identify and develop investment and advisory opportunities that promote private sector development, economic growth, and job creation in the region.โ€ข Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and civil society to foster collaboration and advance IFCโ€™s mission.โ€ข Conduct market analysis and sector assessments to identify barriers to private sector investment and propose actionable solutions to address them.โ€ข Oversee the origination, structuring, and execution of investment projects, ensuring compliance with IFCโ€™s standards and policies, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria.โ€ข Monitor and evaluate the performance of IFCโ€™s portfolio in the region, identifying risks and opportunities to optimize development impact and financial returns.โ€ข Represent IFC in high-level discussions, conferences, and events to advocate for private sector-led development and promote IFCโ€™s role in the region.โ€ข Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment that drives results.โ€ข Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in IFCโ€™s operations.โ€ข Contribute to knowledge sharing and capacity building initiatives to strengthen local institutions and enhance private sector capabilities in CAETZ.

โ€ข Advanced degree (Master's or equivalent) in finance, economics, business administration, international development, or a related field.โ€ข Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in development finance, investment banking, private equity, or related fields, with a proven track record of structuring and executing complex financial transactions.โ€ข Demonstrated expertise in analyzing financial statements, conducting due diligence, and assessing investment risks in emerging markets.โ€ข Strong knowledge of private sector development, including familiarity with IFCโ€™s strategic priorities, products, and services.โ€ข Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, private sector leaders, and development partners.โ€ข Proven ability to work collaboratively in multicultural teams and build relationships across organizational boundaries.โ€ข Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and provide actionable recommendations.โ€ข Demonstrated commitment to promoting sustainable development and addressing challenges in emerging markets.โ€ข High level of adaptability, resilience, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.โ€ข Fluency in English, with proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region considered an asset.
