This strategic approach by UNDP to Guyanaโs to national development priorities aims to advance human development based on economic, social and gender inequalities; supporting effective governance and social protection; and enabling sustainable low-carbon trajectories (including climate change adaptation,) all supported by digital transformation and strengthened data.
The role of the Country Office Communications Unit is to adopt UNDPโs global communication strategy to a local context and the Country Office development priorities. Through the production of high-quality communication materials and innovative use of relevantly targeted communication channels (internal and external), the communications team works collaboratively to position UNDP as a leader in the development arena, promote visibility of UNDP programme outcomes/development results, mobilize support for Sustainable Development Goals in the country, and practice delivery as one UN.
Under the overall guidance of the Operations Coordinator and the immediate supervision of the Operations Assistant, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to UNDP officials, ensuring highest standards of discretion, integrity, responsibility, protocol, and security. ย The Driver also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Upon request of the supervisor, the Driver will also provide driving services to Consultants, Experts and UN staff on mission.
This position will primarily support the functioning of the Programme and Operations teams and, the Office of the Resident Representative, from time to time. For the former, this could include but is not limited to field visits, dispatching of mail, collection of supplies, and bank visits. Particular emphasis is placed on safety, reliability, discretion, adherence to protocol and promoting representation.

Duties and Responsibilities
The driver will undertake the following key activities:

๏ฑย ย ย ย Proper use of vehicle
๏ฑย ย ย ย Provision of clerical services, as appropriate
๏ฑย ย ย ย Day-to-day maintenance and cleaning of the assigned vehicle
๏ฑย ย ย ย Periodic checks of stand-by generator
1.)ย ย ย ย Ensures provision of reliable, professional and safe driving services:
Example of Duties:ย ย ย ย a) driving office vehicles for the transport of UNDP officials and visitors, delivery and collection of mail, documents, supplies and other items, andย
b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, andย
c) supporting visa and customs arrangements when required.
2.)ย ย ย ย Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle:
Example of Duties:ย ย ย ย through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, and provision of inputs for preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
3.)ย ย ย ย Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle:
Example of Duties:ย ย ย ย through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely oil changes, tyre-checks, brake pads changes, washing of vehicle and other related tasks.
4.)ย ย ย ย Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the stand-by generator:
Example of Duties:ย ย ย ย through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, and re-fueling as needed.
5.)ย ย ย ย Ensures availability and proper maintenance of all the required documents/suppliesย
Example of Duties:ย ย ย ย including, but not limited to vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts, in the assigned vehicle.
6.)ย ย ย ย Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents
Example of Duties:ย ย ย ย as well as to ensure full compliance with implementation of all security measures for the passengers and the vehicle during all the trips regardless of the location, destination, and distance of travel.
7.)ย ย ย ย Ensures clerical support
Example of Duties:ย ย ย ย including supporting the processing of customs entries, relating to protocol requests, visa requests, maintaining inventory of stationery supplies, and dispensing stationery.
8.)ย ย ย ย Maintains professional appearance
Example of Duties:ย ย ย ย Including practicing good hygiene, maintaining professional appearance and clean and disinfect high touch surfaces of the vehicle regularly
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: Not applicable.
Performs other duties, as required.
Domestic travel may be required on-occasion to Hinterland and remote locations. ย International travel across neighbouring land borders may be required.
