Background

UNDP Philippines is realigning its structures and processes to improve programmatic and operational efficiency, while retaining the required capacities for programme delivery and development, proper oversight, communications, and partnerships, as well as the needed operational capacity to deliver programmes at acceptable risk levels. This position is part of the realigned country office structure.

Position Purpose

Under the guidance and supervision of the Operations Manager and direct supervisor, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Driver provides driving services to the operations and programme staff in the Country Office, Consultants and Experts, and UN Staff on mission

Key Duties and Accountabilities

1.Ensure provision of reliable and secure driving services by:

Driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items; and Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa, and customs formalities arrangement when required

2. Ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicles through accurate maintenance plans and reports.ย  Assist in the registration of diplomatic and official vehicles, as they come due.

3. Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.Conduct periodic check-up of vehicles, emergency engine troubleshooting and tune-up, where needed.

4. Ensures availability of all the required documents / supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city / country, filing of transport records, first aid kit, necessary spare parts.ย 

5. Ensure accurate and timely accomplishment of trip tickets on a daily basis, aimed at supporting the monthly billing/charges for the driving services to various colleagues

6. Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement incidents. Demonstrate excellent knowledge of protocol and security matters (for drivers).

Minimum Requirements:

Education:ย 

Completion of Secondaryย Education is required.

Experience:ย 

At least two (2) years of workย experienceย asย aย driver is required.ย 

Knowledge and skills:ย 

Familiarity of Manila and other major cities in the country an advantage. Experience working as driver withย UNย orย Internationalย Organizations is an asset.ย  Knowledgeย of driving rules and regulations is an advantage.ย  Knowledge and skills in minor vehicles repair are desirable.ย  Experience in driving various types of vehicles is an asset.ย  Knowledgeable on the use of Windows-based systems (MS Office, etc.) an advantage

Language Requirements:

Fluency in English and Filipino is required.

Certificate/License:

Validย Professional Driver'sย licenseย is required.ย
