Position Title: Director of Web Strategy & Development
Position Classification: Regular; Exempt; Full-Time; 40 hours/Week
Reports to: Director of Digital Engagement and Response
Location: Employees in this role can work from our Boston, MA office, remotely within the U.S. or hybrid of these two options. (less than 10% domestic and international travel)

Partners In Health (PIH) is seeking a strategic and technically adept Director of Web Strategy & Development to lead the organizationโs website ecosystem, consisting of the global PIH website, country site template, and Bending the Arc film site. This role will oversee the direction, operation, security, and evolution of PIHโs web presence, ensuring they are powerful tools for engagement, storytelling, fundraising, and advocacy. The Director will lead a team of web developers and a strategist, manage external vendor relationships, and serve as the point person for web-related strategy and execution across the organization. This individual must combine deep technical knowledge with creative and strategic to drive continuous improvements in user experience, accessibility, and digital performance. Please note that we do not sponsor U.S. work authorization for this role. Candidates must be able to legally work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership (40%)
- Lead the vision, development, and optimization of PIHโs long-term web strategy and ecosystem aligned with PIHโs communications, fundraising, and advocacy goals.
- Oversee website redesigns, feature updates, and content enhancements to ensure the platform remains modern, accessible, and engaging.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate user behavior, content effectiveness, and conversion paths. Team and Project Management (35%)
- Supervise and mentor a team of 3 including developers and strategist. Manage team workload, skill development, and quality in support of cultivating a strong team culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage website operating costs and recommend budget for necessary
upgrades and optimization: Includes monitoring ongoing costs associated
with website operation including domains, CDNs, hosting, backups and 3rd
party plugins. - Evaluate and oversee vendor relationships to support web strategy, design, and technology needs. Technical Execution (25%)
- Oversee day-to-day site operations, maintaining best practices in code management, version control, and testing workflows.
- Manage website integrations with other systems such data, fundraising, CRM, and digital marketing systems.
- Identify and assess potential risks and delays; proactively seek ways to
mitigate risks. Including monitoring system health and uptime, resolving
issues related to availability and connectivity, and overseeing backups. - Manage digital analytics strategy and tools (Google Analytics, Tag Manager, etc.) to inform content, design, and technical decisions. Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive web development experience, with at least 3 years managing developers or cross-functional teams.
- High level of experience in Drupal 10/11.
- Deep understanding of website technologies (HTML/CSS), architecture, accessibility, responsive design, and UX/UI principles.
- Proficiency with Google Webmaster Tools, Analytics, Search, Tag Manager.
- Experience with server administration, SSL, and domain management.
- Strategic thinker with excellent collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas to senior leadership.
- Proven track record of leading digital projects from strategy through launch to ongoing optimization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate data into strategy.

Pay and BenefitsThe expected starting salary range for new hires in this position is between $120,000-135,000/year and may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position belongs to a class of roles that have a salary range between $120,000-145,000/year. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with employer match, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employeeโs eligible dependents. Full time employees will receive 15 days of vacation, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 3 volunteer days in addition to paid time off during the week between Christmas and New Yearโs Day, the week of July 4th, and 11 additional holidays annually.
