ContextThe incumbent will be based at the UNEP Office in Almaty and work under the supervision of the Head of UNEP's Central Asia Office. The role of the incumbent is that of an expert in translations from English to Russian and a digital specialist in both web and social media
Task DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Head of UNEP's Central Asia Office, the incumbent will perform the following functions: Web ๏ง Ensures relevant content, such as stories, press releases, select speeches and publications, is translated from English to Russian and posted in a timely manner; ๏ง Proofreads all content posted on the Russian language website; ๏ง Coordinates review of existing Russian-language sections of UNEP website to determine need for revision; ๏ง Updates content on UNEP Russian website. Social Media ๏ง Carries out social media strategy and execution plans for Russian-speaking audiences; ๏ง Translates social media content from English to Russian, including videos and graphics; ๏ง Maintains UNEP Russian language social media channels, posting relevant and timely content and engaging with Russian-speaking audiences; ๏ง Promotes UNEPโs work and messages to Russian language stakeholders via support to communications and outreach activities; ๏ง Reviews statistics and analytics and adjusts/adapts content strategy to maximize reach; Support ๏ง Support requests from Executive Director related to Russian-language audiences and her official travel. ๏ง Stay abreast of rapidly changing technological advancements related to digital platforms and translation methods; ๏ง Participates in other Communication Division activities (training, meetings, workshops); ๏ง Performs other related duties as assigned.

Living conditions and remarksKazakhstan, officially the Republic of Kazakhstan, is a transcontinental country located mainly in Central Asia and partly in Eastern Europe. It borders Russia to the north and west, China to the east, Kyrgyzstan to the southeast, Uzbekistan to the south, and Turkmenistan to the southwest, with a coastline along the Caspian Sea. Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked country, the largest and northernmost Muslim-majority country by land area, and the ninth-largest country in the world. It has a population of 20 million people, and one of the lowest population densities in the world, at fewer than 6 people per square kilometre (15 people per square mile). Its capital is Astana, known as Nur- Sultan from 2019 to 2022. Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city, was the country's capital until 1997. Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan, with a population of 2,2 mln people, about 11% of the country's total population. Almaty is the major commercial and cultural center of Kazakhstan. The city is in the mountainous area of southern Kazakhstan in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau at an elevation of 700โ900 m (2,300โ3,000 feet), where the Large and Small Almatinka rivers run into the plain. Almaty is a safe city, but the usual precautions should still exercise. Medical services: No special vaccination is required to travel to Almaty, Kazakhstan. Medical services (including dental care) are provided at European standards. Clinics working 24 hours are available in the city. There are both private and state clinics and hospitals. Pharmacies (Kazakh: darikhana, Russian: apteka) all over Almaty sell many Western medicines. Emergency numbers: In case of emergency, please call \"101\" (Fire services), \"102\" (Police), \"103\" (Ambulance), \"104\" (Gas Service), \"112\" (Rescue service in emergency situations).
