Mission and objectivesUpdate UNICEF works in the worldโs toughest places to reach the most disadvantaged children and adolescents โ and to protect the rights of every child, everywhere. Across more than 190 countries and territories, we do whatever it takes to help children survive, thrive and fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. The worldโs largest provider of vaccines, we support child health and nutrition, safe water and sanitation, quality education and skill building, HIV prevention and treatment for mothers and babies, and the protection of children and adolescents from violence and exploitation. Before, during and after humanitarian emergencies, UNICEF is on the ground, bringing lifesaving help and hope to children and families. Non-political and impartial, we are never neutral when it comes to defending childrenโs rights and safeguarding their lives and futures. And we never give up.
ContextThis assignment is part of an education support initiative led by the Ministry of Education and UNICEF in Guinea-Bissau, aiming to promote inclusive, equitable, and quality basic education through strengthened school governance, teacher training, and community engagement. The initiative addresses key barriers such as weak school management, limited parental involvement, and the need for inclusive and gender-sensitive learning environments. To overcome these challenges, the Ministry and its partners are introducing tools like the National Quality Standards (PNQ), School Councils (CE), a Code of Conduct with a focus on gender equity and social behavior change, and Inclusive Education practices that support children with disabilities. To ensure sustainability and effective implementation, a comprehensive Training of Trainers (ToT) Manual will be developed to equip national and regional education stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to lead and replicate capacity-building sessions. By joining this assignment, the Online Volunteer will contribute to the creation of this strategic manual and directly support education reform efforts in a country undergoing a profound transformation in its education system.
