About the Program:
The Greenhouse Gas Protocol is the worldโs leading authority and international standard setter on corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions accounting. Over 92% of Fortune 500 companies that report emissions data to CDP use the GHG Protocol to do so. Building on a 20-year partnership between World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), GHG Protocol works with governments, industry associations, NGOs, businesses, and other organizations. The GHG Protocol also provides standards, tools, and online training to help countries and cities track progress towards their climate goals.
Job Highlight:
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will provide essential support to a diverse team spread across the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). You will be the key point person for fundraising within the GHG Protocol. You will play a pivotal role in supporting to GHGP directors and management team members in the collective endeavor to secure funding for the GHG Protocol's ambitious growth strategy. You will lead proposal and grant management, as well as nurture complex donor relationships, and is in one of the most exciting spaces in the standard and tool-setting agenda in how to measure and manage emissions. It will grant insight into the strategic and project development processes of a rapidly expanding global initiative.
What will you do:
Prospecting and Pipeline Development (15%):
- Conduct thorough research to identify potential donors in support of critical projects and initiatives with an emphasis on securing flexible support for GHG Protocol
- Prepare comprehensive donor profiles, delineate funding priorities, and compile briefing materials for meetings
- Create visual funding pipelines and dashboards using Salesforce and ensure donor information in Salesforce is accurate and up-to-date
Donor Stewardship and Communications (35%):
- Collaborate closely with WRIโs and WBCSDโs Development teams on funding strategies, promoting internal coordination, alignment and donor intelligence sharing
- Support GHG Protocol management team and organizational (WRI and WBCSD) senior leadership in donor cultivation, including relationship building, meeting coordination, and preparation
- Ensure responsive follow-up on donor meetings and requests
- Establish connections with peer organizations to identify opportunities, prevent conflicts, and seek best practices
- Engage with peers in WBCSD and WRI
Proposals and Reporting (50%):
- Contribute to direct fundraising efforts, including drafting and reviewing concept notes, proposals, and identifying other donor cultivation activities as appropriate to support GHGPโs 5-year strategy
- Draft and collate content from across the GHG Protocol to support the core narrative and highlight the GHG Protocolโs impact, including coordinating across relevant staff of both WRI and WBCSD
- Coordinate process to ensure GHG Protocol organizational leadership is aligned around funding priorities and funding breakdown to the respective organizations
- Track grant proposal components and deadlines using project management tools to ensure alignment
- Direct narrative grant reporting
- Draft and collate content from across the GHG Protocol to prepare an annual, standard grant report
- Prepare individual reports for each donor, including coordinating across the GHG Protocol to gather input from relevant work streams
- Track grant report deliverables and deadlines using project management tools to ensure alignment across GHG Protocol
- Execute the final donor submissions per individual reporting requirements
What will you need:
- Education: Bachelorโs degree a relevant field (e.g., environmental science, economics, public or nonprofit administration, international development, etc.)
- Experience: You have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
- Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory
- Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization
